    Hi All,

Just a quick query for any one has transferred into teaching from industry. How did you get industry experience recognised specifically in the PLC sector with a VEC. Would really appreciate some help with this from someone.

It isn't always recognised...it usually depends on what you worked at before. Ususally you apply direct to the VEC with details of what you did and what qualifications you have and they might start you on a higher point on the scale

    Cheers for the reply Doc,

Local interviewees wanted the industry experience and offered the position straightaway .. but HR/payroll gave me no credit for prior experience.. is this the norm...the principal acknowledged the discrepancy but didn't offer a solution..just looking for somebody with an insight into how they managed the process,

There was a Dept circular or instruction on the matter several years ago with relevant forms etc but it really depended on your previous experience and lenght etc. Contact the TUI as they may have some experience in dealing with it.

    hi

You need to detail the previous experience in writing and relate it to your current job/ teaching subjects. Attached written references too if you can. Send it into the vec head office and ask them to forward it to the department for approval.

Experience gained under 22 is not counted and only 3/4 of experience gained between 22-25 years of age is counted.

Worth applying for as you have nothing to lose - i know few people who have been successful.

    thanks

    trihead;)
