Clady is to have surgery next week with the projected recovery time at 5 months.

That 5 months is obviously just a teaser

Nope - the minimum recovery for a Lisfranc tear is 3 months and with surgery is up to 5 months. The patient cannot walk on the repaired foot for 8 weeks.

Some athletes never return to their pre-injury levels of sport after these injuries. Despite excellent surgical reduction and fixation, arthritis may occur from the damage to the cartilage. This may result in chronic pain and may require fusion in the future. Le'Vron Bell also suffered a Lisfranc injury but his is less severe than Clady's and his recovery time is estimated at 10-12 weeks.

There has been a spate of Lisfrnac injuries over the past year - Cedric Benson, Santonio Holmes, Ryan Kalil. Freeney and Schaub also had this injury in the past.

He's an all-pro LT and they do not grow on trees. After Manning and Miller he was the one player we did not want to lose. Manning could adjust but this will surely hurt at any rate. I still predict a solid 12 wins but i'm going to be a little more uneasy on Manning's health (considering there's some fearsome pass rushers we face) and it's january that it could make all the difference.

wtf is wrong with Von Miller? Guy tried to cheat the drug test and only avoided a year long suspension because "it became apparent to both sides that the collector also was involved. Thus, the six-game settlement." which makes no sense to me.

Another rout - this time of the much hated Raiders

    3-0 in a canter.

We look frightening at times, just finished watchin it there. Ran the ball so well last night and manning just reads everything so fast.

Everyone on the offence gets a taste as well, going to be so hard to defend against us this season.

Raiders fan here, just wanted to say "Well Done". Never figured we had a chance this season and I'm sure you'll spank us in our own backyard but never mind us. Best of luck, thats some team you guys have put together.

The offence is actually scary how good it looks at the moment. I am sure there are some defences that will put it up to the Broncos - but there aren't many.

Another positive - Clark looked decent at LT - he is no Ryan Clady but I think he will do a decent job over the rest of the season and hopefully will improve as he gets more games under his belt.

The offense does look good at the minute but they are one injury away from being in some trouble and thats to Knowshon Moreno.

If you lose Moreno you lose the only back you have that can block. He is clearly the best back there but he has a pretty consistent injury history.

Clearly losing Manning would be a huge loss and season defining and everybody knows that but losing Moreno would hurt a lot I think.

I disagree - Moreno is no more than servicable and the Broncos would have options. If he were to get injured in the next couple of weeks then for blocking Virgil Green could be used in the backfield if necessary and there are still several servicable free agent RBs available.

However, as the season progresses I expect both Hillman and Ball to see more playing time - their blocking will improve. Also CJ Anderson will be off IR in week 5. I am looking forward to seeing what Anderson can do and if he can live up to the promise he showed in early pre-season.

Losing Manning would put the Broncos back into the pack - but that would be the case with any NFL team who has a blue-chip QB.

Or i you're the Colts, from a Super Bowl appearance to worst in the league.

I agree though, with Ball in there it'd be enough to give Manning enough support to throw it 75+% of the time.

Dont forget though, it was the Raiders Pass Rush you were playing against, and I say that as a Raiders fan!! but it was a good start for him.

Manning is just superb. My Favourite NFL Quarterback was John Elway but Manning wouldnt be far behind him. He may not have as many Superbowls as Brady or even his brother, but I've never seen a QB play the way he does. A legend.

We win again and whilst the offense was impressive and the D was sturdy, I'm gonna be harsh & say it wasn't clinical, ie. we were sloppy at times, 2 examples: Clark letting Manning take a hit and Ball's fumble, those kind of mistakes could kill us if the scoreline is closer. We also gave up some big plays at times.

Hillman impressed me last night, his initial speed is blistering, I'd love to see him hit the open field and go for a long one. Ball isn't nearly as fast but he made some good tough yards, but the fumble will erase all the good he did (ie. you could see he was really upset with it).

Raiders killed themselves with penalties. Pryor impressed me, he got out of some sticky situations and still made plays, if he had a good O line he'd be a very interesting QB.

Another impressive win, 52pts and Manning in the form of his career. Interesting listening to him in a recent interview, and saying how he feels re-invigorated with the 'change' he went through when going to Denver.
You can see how excited he is about it and oh boy is he enjoying it, and oh boy am I (and all Broncos fans) enjoying it. It really is something to cherish, seeing him orchestrate an offense, the only pity is, he hasn't many more years left in him.

Even if you're not a Broncos fan, just sit back and enjoy a master at work, he's the elite of elite QB's.

We have several tricky (but interesting) games ahead, @Dallas, @Indy, @NE, @SD, @Chiefs & @Hou, so.............loads of games there to be worried about, and no way do I see us going undefeated in all of those! Even if we did, it's all for naught/zero/zilch if you get beat in the playoffs.

Just to add, our 3rd Q and 2nd half stats must be mind blowing, so...........what are they eating at half time :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,299 ✭✭✭spiralism

I think it's the way Fox and Manning especially make half time adjustments. We've been blowing teams out the gate late in games since Manning came here.

Cowboys ahead, i don't think this is anywhere near the easy win that people predict. They're a strange one- they play up or down to their level of opposition. Do not rule out a close game or even a loss here only for them to lay an egg against Washington next week. I'm worried about what Ware might do against Clark as well.

My initial reaction is : Wow, what a game, what a win, as I haven't seen any game footage yet ! (following it on a live ticker).
It was pretty exciting following it just by text so I'd imagine it was some spectacle to follow it live on TV.
So if someone could copy it onto DVD for me, I'd be mighty obliged ;)

Home run Homer, and it seemed like a 'home' game aswell, look at the amount of orange shirts!

Manning said he was the only one that knew he'd keep the ball on his TD run so that everyone else would sell the RB run better.

I didn't realise that we didn't punt once during the game, and scored on 9 or 11 drives !

    From ESPN:

The Broncos scored 51 points. Peyton Manning completed 78.6 percent of 42 attempts for 414 yards and four touchdowns Sunday. Broncos receivers amassed 205 yards after catches. None of those are season highs.

Franklin was injured last night and will have an MRI on his left knee today. He is expected to miss at least two games.

Vasquez moved to RT for the second half with Kuper coming in at RG. The Broncos had to change their approach on offence in the second half to accomodate Vasquez who has never played at RT.

Winston Justice is expected to replace Franklin at RT for the Colts game next week.

To lose both starting tackles before the halfway point of the season asks a lot of questions about the conditioning of the team, especially when you notice that we've lost a starting DE and MLB on top of this as well as our first and second choice Center.. We're in trouble if Franklin misses time and we're so threadbare in some positions right now that any more injuries could totally derail the season.

It's in all likelihood going to be seriously troublesome with the next two opponents on the list. Genuinely worried about Mathis and Orakpo/Kerrigan injuring Manning, who's now carrying a minor knock as it is.

Franklin should be ok for the colts game

Franklin should be ok for the colts game
Franklin has knee and angle issues - he is currently wearing a boot on his ankle - he is listed as doubtful for the Colts game and is day-to-day.

spiralism - injuries are part of the game - it has nothing to do with conditioning. And Clark (who is not close to being as good as Clady) has proven more than adequate at LT. Vasquez is regarded as the best pass protecting RG in the NFL and the Broncos had two TD drives when he moved to RT against the Jags. The injuries will be dealt with in the normal fashion - 'next man up'.

Yes that shud most definitely have a question mark after it! Jumped the gun a bit but it's not as bad as first feared and yeah I would agree. All teams will suffer injuries and if we can't deal with the normal wear and tear than we where never contenders to begin with

There's an old saying, defenses win championships, well I thinks it's fair to say we need to up-our-game on defense because otherwise..........

The one stat that I fear the most is :

    PASSING DEFENSE (STATS and RANK):
    20+ yards: 34 32nd

It was our achilles heel last year, and it looks like the heel is still bare and teams are aiming their arrows at it !

    Some other stats:
    Yards: 2026 32nd
    TDs: 11 23rd (note: Romo = 5 of the 11)
    Rating: 87.8 17th
    ATT: 251 31st
    3rd down %: 38.3 19th

    Optimistically speaking we have :
    ....some good points:
    YdsLost: 120 8th
    INTs: 9 T-4th
    SACK: 17 T-9th

also with Millar & Champ back, and then when the rest get fit, we should steady the ship!

The stats don't tell the whole story -

    1. Most teams have thrown the ball a lot because the Broncos have been ahead which distorts the stats
    2. Many of the bigger plays have been garbage time stuff as the defence was just trying to play out time.
    3. Romo had a sensational game for Dallas before the INT
    4. The Broncos came into the Jags game with the attitude that they just needed to turn up. The Jags were better than previous because Henne is a better QB than Gabbert and Blackmon was back and he is a seriously good WR.
    5. The Defence has been nestled in the security that Manning and the offence can put up 50 pts a game.
    6. The pass rush in base defence has been anemic without Miller.
    7. Champ's return will allow for more options in the secondary which was getting stretched with teams running 4 and 5 WRs to try and get chuncks of yardage.

Next weeks game at the Colts will tell a lot about the defence. I expect a major upping of the anti from Del Rio.

Incidentally - for the first time in his career Miller has spent the last six weeks working personally with a pass rush specialist coach who has lived in Miller's house for the six weeks - he has never received personal coaching before. Miller appears determined to make up for lost time.

Meanwhile Green Bay are trying to poach WR Tavarres King off the Broncos practice squad by offering him a place on their 53 man roster.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,146 ✭✭✭Morrisseeee

Broncos promote Tavarres King to 53-man roster, waive Adrian Robinson.
    Quote from King:
"It all happened so fast, it was crazy there for a while," King said Tuesday. "I didn't know if I was going to be staying here or moving up to Green Bay. But I love it here. This is where I was drafted. I want this place to be my home. Fortunately for me, I guess I got a little love back."

I sure hope you're right JRG about the D, I still have nightmares thinking about those mishaps last year and this year has not calmed those fears.....yet!

What are your opinions on the (much admired but ill-fated) 16-0 season lads !?
I'd actually like for us to loose a game, preferably sometime soon. The next 2 aren't exactly easy, and then the 4 games after the bye-week are pretty tough, @Chargers, Chiefs, @Pats, @Chiefs ! The main priority is to win both the Chiefs games, ie. staying on top of our div.

In other words, I couldn't care less about a 16-0 season, I want our team to get to the SB.

  • Registered Users Posts: 828 ✭✭✭Prefab Sprouter

To be honest if it finally shuts up the Dolphins fans, it'll be a price worth paying. There'll be no let up for the Broncos with the Chiefs playing so well but Alex Smith is no Peyton Manning and the Raiders were well able to shut down the Chiefs attack. If the Broncos get a 1 or 2 game advantage in the division I can see them resting Manning in the run in (provided they have secured home advantage). Strange how the AFC West has gone from possibly the worst division in the NFL to one of the best (excepting us of course!!! ;) )

I consider Manning the best QB ever to play the game, he also comes across as such a likeable guy. I'd love to see go 16-0 and win the superbowl.

There is only one objective for Manning and the Broncos this season - win the SB - how this is achieved is irrelevant.

Franklin is still out of practice - will miss the Colts game.

Miller is back - Woodyard, Ayers, Williams and Phillips were all limited in practice due to injuries. DJ Walton participated in limited practice and the Broncos have 21 days to decide whether he comes off PUP list or not. The Broncos have until Saturday to cut a player to make space on the Broncos roster for Miller.
