Is Lisa Chambers not based in Dublin? How is she gonna pull this off?

Fianna Fáil Leader Micheál Martin TD has announced the appointment of Lisa Chambers as Fianna Fáil Area Representative for Castlebar in the Mayo constituency. The appointment is an important step in the Party’s local and national renewal strategy and follows consultation with a special committee of the Fianna Fáil Ard Comhairle.

Deputy Martin commented, “Since February, I have been travelling the country meeting with the Fianna Fáil organisation. What has struck me most is the determination at every level to renew the Party and ensure Fianna Fáil’s place at the heart of Irish politics and society.
“A key part of this strategy is the appointment of new, talented and hard working community people as area representatives in places where Fianna Fáil needs to be rebuilt. In Lisa Chambers we have a person who meet all these requirements and is dedicated to representing and improving the quality of life of people in Castlebar.”

Lisa Chambers, at age 24, was the youngest Fianna Fáil candidate in the 2011 General Election in the Mayo constituency and put forward a very positive and energetic campaign. Lisa is a native of Ballyheane, Castlebar, recently qualified as a Barrister from Kings Inn, has a commerce degree from NUIG and a Masters in Law from UCD.

Ms Chambers said: “I want to make a positive difference to the communities in Castlebar. By becoming an Area Representative for Fianna Fáil, I hope to provide a link to local and national Government and engage a whole new group of people in community activism. I also hope to play my part in renewing positive Fianna Fáil politics in this area.”

Deputy Martin concluded, “I would encourage people to engage with the Local Area Representatives if they would like to play a positive role in their community and to join with me in Fianna Fáil if they are interested in changing politics in Mayo and across the country.”
