Are they considered "traditional?" I'm from the states and recently discovered them, like them a lot....

    The band in Titanic?

God awful. Wouldn't call them traditional myself, they're probably described as 'Celtic'.

No clue about Titanic. To each their own.

Afraid I don't know the diff between "Celtic" and "traditional Irish." sigh

    Celtic, they are.
    Irish traditional they are not.

Celtic is kinda what Americans refer to as Irish Music, but it is a more commercial form of irish music, Not in any way 'trad' as such.
High Kings, Celtic Woman, dropkick murphys are other examples i suppose.

www.irishtradtunes.com has a nice selection of decent Irish Trad for download
