Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi.

Looking to buy a Giant Seek 1 (or maybe Seek 2).
I'll save a couple of hundred quid buying it online.
Not sure what size to order.
    I am 5ft 9.
    My inseam is 31 inches.

In the Giant Seek range, the small frame is 17", the medium is 19".
    Which would suit me more?
(i don't think i'll get the chance to try any in a shop).

Can anyone help out? I'd be very grateful.

    Zak.

    that was quick!! cheers!

forgive my ignorance, i'm new to all this...

i think the Seek is a hybrid bike (isn't that a cross between a road and a mountain bike?)
the calculator you sent me to doesn't include hybrids...
i put my particulars in (the mountain bike section) and it came out that the frame size would be 17.5'...
in the road bike section it said 21" ...
    confused now!!!
logic says split the difference.....19" ???

    again, apols for my ignorance...

The giant seek is a hybrid.
I've been looking at the geometry of this bike.
I reckon, that you hit on the right size, perhaps by accident.
    Go with the medium(19")

Great tool, however doesn't work right for me. It calculated 2cm bigger frame, that I currently ride and the frame I ride feels on the large side for me.
Secondly, frames made by some manufacturers are sized differently.

What you need to compare is the effective top tube of different bikes. This calculator is quite detailed and comes up with a pretty good result, I think.

    Ok. Last one.

Gonna go with the Seek 1.
    It's geometry is:

    Frame Size 19"
    Top Tube 22.90
    Head Tube 5.00
    Wheel Base 41.80
    Stand over Height 30.80

    I checked my inseam properly, it's 32.5"....

Will order online asap, does the size seem appropriate for me?

Thanks a million for previous advice, one more time and I'd be extremely grateful.

    zak.

You're about the same size as me, and I'd take the medium. Normally, for a road bike, I take a 545 mm top tube with a 110 mm stem, which is probably equivalent to that size for an upright hybrid. You can change the stem easily enough to give you +/- 20 mm or so anyway, which is the difference in a frame size.

(Note that I can only find the measurements in cm on the Giant site and I'm working off the 45 cm size, which is the Medium they have listed.)
