Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Well no Channel 5 or ITV sounds like you haven't tuned in the correct channel variations.
No idea why you had other issues, did you try more than once to do it?

Could be a region problem with Ch5,not worried about ITV as I could get the HD version.I'll try it again and see if the other issues persist.I tried it on two boxes and had some issues on both.
I think the old Pace box I use for FTA is ok,I can record on it aswell thanks to an old blue Irish card, albiet in single feed mode as I have only one cable going to it.

I got an East Anglia FTV card this week. Most channels have been added but I haven't been able to get ITV1 HD or Channel 5 onto my EPG.

For ITV1 HD I've tried adding these freqs individually to Other Channels but they don't stay on the EPG after inserting the Irish sub card
    ITV 1 London HD - 10832 H 22000 5/6
    ITV 1 Granada HD and STV West HD - 10936 V 22000 5/6
    10.834 H 22.0 5/6
I've tried deleting other varaints so there is only one ITV1 HD in Other Channels per attempt.

For Channel 5 I can view it on 105 with the FTV card but with the Irish card in it doesn't get added to the EPG and if I try to view it in Other Channels it's a black screen.

AFAIK you will only get ITV HD if the ITV region are broadcasting in HD. As an example UTV isn't available yet on HD so if you had a UTV card you wont get it on HD. Chances are that East Anglia are the same. But check the high channel numbers on your Sky box: 970's - 990's. Some channels appear there.

I have no idea about channel 5. There are 5 different regions of C5 so maybe add all 5 of them to "other channels" and then do the card trick again.

I've an East Anglia card and my sister's box has ch 5 on 105. I notice when i did the card trick you should wait a good few minutes to make sure the FTV EPG is loaded. ITV London is on 993. I think the EA card is blocked to ITV HD this applies to other regions as well.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,585 ✭✭✭jca

Use 10.964 H 22.0 5/6 to get channel 5 and 5* into the other channels. Select all that appear and redo the trick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 290 ✭✭Pete2k

Ch5 shouldnt be problem just add the correct region (Anglia should be Region 2-Part Network). Your ITV1 HD (Meridian) tho comes from the BBC HD tp which is DVB-S2 so you'll need a different region card if you want it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,104 ✭✭✭groom

Thanks for all the replies. Does it make a difference if you have a couple of variants in Other Channels? If you have incorrect variants in there could it be blocking the correct ones from getting picked up?

Edit: Got Channel 5. Just added all the different variant from the freq jca listed above so answered my own question there.

Tried this earlier and got no Ch5 or ITV on 105 & 103,got ITV HD though but found that the box wouldn't scroll through favourites and then refused to scroll through the EPG.
Ended up resetting the box back to the Irish EPG.

Any thoughts on what might be causing the problem?
Good it worked out with CH5. Do you get any ITV on 103?

Yeah cheers have ITV1 Anglia E on 105

    Hiya.

I have been given a Welsh card. Does anyone know which ITV1 HD frequency I should use for Other Channels? Thanks

Has anyone else had problems with the card trick today?
Came down to find the box rebooted this morning and can't get the trick to work since.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,377 ✭✭✭jgbyr

The box rebooted overnight but I had no problems getting the channels back with the card. Just watching the game on 5.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 824 ✭✭✭pbarr

Had to redo it today due to a power cut worked no problem.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,678 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

For some reason it stays with the irish epg every time I reboot and won't recognise the ftv card at all. Ah well. Twas nice while it lasted.

I've recently tuned in rte2 hd and ch4 hd is there anyway to use this trick to get them on the epg

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,529 ✭✭✭warlikedave

It stopped working for me as well - recent update/reboot (i using the beta software) ended it for me as well :(

rte2 hd? i have to ask - thats an error isnt it or have they as in sky been sneaking the irish HD channel to test customers? :P

Tis a test. Label 1270 and not rte2 hd. See the other thread for tuning details.

won't recognise the ftv card at all.

That sounds like a problem with your FTV card then, as a rebooted box with a UK card in it will always bring on the UK EPG, card trick or not.

I have just re-booted both of my boxes, done the card trick & they are both working fine suggest you clean the terminal on your card.

Does your ftv card still change to british epg?

It does - the ftv epg works until you place the Irish sub card back in then you cant see the ftv channels anymore plus if you type in the epg number of any former ftv epg channel it wont switch to the Irish equivalent - it auto switches to channel 998

Not talking about people with the Beta software here, just the other chap that's having issues.

I know but it happened after some sort of reboot/update in the same few days that it happened to me via reboot/update (it could be the same patch for regular and beta users - speculation) - just thought that it might be possible that it was linked plus i was asked a question :P

Ha ha, yeah I know what you're saying but you're a special case when it comes to the card trick ;)

machiavellianme with the normal software sounds like his problem is with his card and the reboot is a coincidence that just brought it to his attention.

I'll retest again later when I get home from work.
It seems to be the card alright.

Tried the card on 3 boxes and had the same issue. Irish EPG only but Sony and LFC are the only channels clearing. I even tried it on a standard white box with the UK EPG already on it and it loaded up the Irish EPG once the card was inserted.

Hang on a minute, did you get your card for free from Setanta? Did you do the card trick and then activate it? Because it sounds like you've an Irish FTV card there and you can't do the Card Trick with an Irish card!

    Ah, that makes sense.
The first time I did the trick was before I activated with Setanta. I guess I shouldnt have activated then!

Sounds like a few HD boxes may have been firmware updated and auto rebooted in the last few days. I don't keep track of the version numbers so not too sure!
Mine had dropped all the UK EPG entries because of this, but I managed to add them back fine with the UK FTV card.

Same here. Box was restarted the other day overnight. Card trick done again, no issues.

The card trick stopped working for me. Was working fine up to a power cut last weekend. Tried lots of different ways. English FTV card is working fine when it's in.

I don't know if the box firmware got updated. My current OS version is R0003.047.25.00P, EPG Version 47.0.16.1

Unplug your box reboot with FTV card press TV guide swap cards the irish EPG will load and the channels you have saved in other channels will stick.

Two of my HD boxes both amstrad DRX890s both updated over the last few days to OSV R003.047.29.00P.
    Card trick still working.

Is it a good idea to swap cards with the box on? I always put it into standby to put in the Irish card. Hot swapping always makes me nervous!!

Yep. Any uk card will do. It doesn't have to be active. All the uk card does is load the uk epg.

I have a suggestion for warlikedave or anyone else using the beta epg. Try deleting everything in other channels and rebooting. Then renter the frequencies for other channels and then try the card trick. Maybe if the other channels are installed through the new epg you could be lucky.

Just got my card today from Setanta but can't get it working. He's my steps.
    -unplug box
-take out Irish card and put in Setanta card.
-plug back in and channel five, ITV etc are there
-Turn off box with remote (leave plugged in)
-take out uk card and put back Irish one

But the epg just reverts back to the Irish one with channel 5 and the ITV's only accessible from "other channels"
Anyone got any ideas where I'm going wrong, tried it about 10 times now with the same results. I have the sky+ HD box by the way if it makes a difference.
