One member has had enough and being encouraged by the non event of the Household charge case not going ahead in Castlebar his letter to Revenue is below

Michael Gladney LPT Branch, P.O. Box 1, Limerick
Dear Michael, I received a letter from you dated {Date} March 2015 in relation to a property tax for the above addressed household. I hereby give you notice that on 5th March 2015 in a siting of the Castlebar Circuit Court saw Peter Keegan summonsed by Mayo County Council to appear before Judge Mary Devins, to face charges in relation to non payment of the Household Charge. The solicitor Ward McEllin, acting for Mayo County Council (plaintiff), withdrew all charges on his client’s behalf before the case could be heard. Be advised; that until the outcome of this case has been decided, you must respect our legal right to litigate. We do not give consent for any monies whatsoever to be deducted from our wages/salary in relation to the Property Tax or the Household Charge. Any previously implied or stated permission for deductions to be made in respect of the Property Tax or the Household Charge are now formally withdrawn and removed forthwith. Please take note: It would be illegal for you to make any deductions in relation to this illegal tax without my explicit permission, and would be constituted as theft and therefore a Criminal offence. You have a legal duty of care to yourself, to me and to the Revenue Commissioners to inform yourself of the law. Kind regards,

Humm isn't the case now finished?

Dropped as opposed to being found not guilty, actually.

In Freeman terms, this is Sam Maguire, Olympic Gold, Best Movie Oscar, a Noble price and the Jules Rimet rolled into one as wins go.

In the real world this is more so it's place.

"To every person facing possession orders, if your bank is seeking relief from the Land and Conveyancing Law Reform Act of 2013, this Act is currently under Constitutional Challenge 2014/755P, Tom Darcy V Minister of Justice and Law Reform and the Attorney General. Please join this Challenge by becoming a named Plaintiff, you should then seek an adjournment of your case pending the determination of the Supreme Court of Ireland, Constitutional Barrister is David Langwallner Dean of Griffith Collage and FH O Reilly & Co Solicitors. PLEASE REPOST"

I see Tom has named the Solicitor firm he is using as FH O Reilly & Co Solicitors, not much of a lay litigant is he. I find it funny when I look at their page and see what that deal with

" Welcome to FH O'Reilly & Co. We are a Dublin based legal firm specialising in the following areas of law: Debt Collection
We have a track record of successfully collecting debts all over Ireland for almost thirty five years. We provide a full effective debt collection service - from the first letter of demand, to the issue of court proceedings and the post judgement collection of debts, and, where necessary, the enforcement of all judgements, from district court to high court."

That is the case number that Tom said was for his Constitutional Challenge which he is still promoting on all the usual Facebook sites and in the papers, so what is happening is he lying?

Well that makes is all so much clearer.

So the O'Donnells are sacrificing their reputations for the good off all the little peasants around the country?

mind you the question about a potential tax liability on the 'gift' made them stumble .. until Beades injected to save them with a Johnny Sextonesque kick to touch !

the whole Legal and Equitable thing got a good few mentions; safe to assume that payments are being exchanged for these services

It would be funny if the Revenue took an interest in this case.

O'Donnell was one of the 'power' lawyers in Dublin for a period, sounds like PK opened a hornets nest on air, everyone stumbled at Pats utterance of tax liability due on value at time of gifting (30,000,000!!! Taxed)

Much excuse making from the son, also a lawyer?!?

check out the lads in the Hub. Not only content with having the begging bowl out at every protest going and selling merchandise etc ... the now want a donation of a Van .. yep, a full on long wheelbase Merc Sprinter type .. they expressly indicate they do not want some old clapped out Van but a proper van for a mobile office. They are also open to one that is under the threat of a receiver as they will 'protect' it for you.

Great lads all together ... I wonder if any of them are on Job Seeker's Allowance? I doubt very much if any of them have any time for sending out CV's or attending interviews

Www.mayonews.ie reports today on Peter Keegans court case from last week. Oddly enough, its account or proceedings differs somewhat from the constitutional arse kicking that some of his supporters portrayed.

Apologies for not posting a full link; I am posting from my phone and a copy paste isn't possible.

    Here's the full link:

    http://www.mayonews.ie/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=21570:council-withdraws-household-charge-prosecutions&catid=23:news&Itemid=46

    Also from the same source:

Peter Duggan, the Finance Officer with Mayo County Council said they were advised by their legal advisers to withdraw the case because the Household Charge was now a matter for the Revenue to collect as part of the Property Tax. He said any arrears is now a matter for the Revenue to pursue and that was the basis for withdrawing the case.
Source: Council denies legal precedent set by household-charge case withdrawal

a great rebuttal from the council
There was no precedent from this, it is a matter for consideration before the Supreme Court who will make a judgement on it, not Facebook or anyone else,” he said.

Given that most of these lads were in construction or related fields, I wonder if said "Battle Bus" was bought, how quickly it might find it's way into other nixers?

Also, I have visions of them wittering on about the Constitutional protection of the van under Article 40.5 based on an episode of Breaking Bad.

They got themselves their much needed bangbus van, so its all systems go for the Hubs tour of Ireland. Starting with the short hop down to Trim next week, though they no longer seem to be a free service with a minimum donation of €10 required to meet Lord Byron of Jenksville or whichever hubbite is on call that day.

Meanwhile their sister organisation (though they are at pains to point out they have no sister and that the shared building, floor, room, desk is all coincidental) Lay Litigation Ireland appears to have decided to pony up for sponsored ads, appearing regularly in my bookface feed as a recommended sponsored link.
I guess they'll need more wanabee Rumpoles paying €150 for their barroom lessons when the current lot finish.

As ever with these things, they always end up with money being sought. I wonder will they bother taxing and insuring the thing given what happened to the Freedom Bus that one of the original Freemen was using a few years ago. Come to think of it, they'll be in a bit of a bind as to whether if they do attempt to tax and insure it as they may have to declare it's being used for business purposes.

All of which reminds me of that Camus line, "a slave begins by demanding justice and ends by wanting to wear a crown".

Who knew that there were serious human rights abuses happening in Claremorris. I'm assuming this was all resolved when the UN sent in a team of observers
