    Laalou out!

Couldn't have picked it better for O'Lionaird. Hopefully Komen does some nice pacemaking now.

He kept focussed in the last 100 metres. Ran to the line.

I was a tiny bit worried at about 300 to go that he was getting boxed in, but then he kind of wiped his nose as if he was on a morning jog, so whatever about having anything in reserve, he seemed well in control anyhow

Komen getting knocked out might be a pity - maybe no one will take out the final at paces that seem to have suited Ciaran.

Not big into Athletics but always watch the Worlds & Olympics etc.

Just want to say well done to Ciaran and Deirdre Ryan both fantastic achievements.

How old is Ciaran does anyone know? He seemed to run well was he in that junior cross country was it last spring?

Good boost with London 2012 around corner.

    Well done though Ciaran!

Well done Mad Len!! Absolutely brilliant.

I watched him all the way up as a kid since he started in West Muskerry AC. He was a 3.50 1500m runner as a youth and had some great battles with David McCarthy over the years. The talant was always there and its great to see him realise it onthe biggest stage available to him.

Can't wait for the final. He'll be competitive. Go Len!! :D:D

    Womens 1500: 1st US , 2nd Europe (GB), 3rd Europe (ESP)

Funny enough these three countries got 2nd, 3rd and 4th in Berlin last time (different order) and not one of the athletes from last time were in the medals this time. Great to see these three countries producing top quality runners to compete with the Africans like Jamal and Burka on a regular basis

Great isn't it? Too often the field events are overlooked in favour of the track and often are much more exciting.

What a summer and what a champs so far for O'Lionaird. Really is fairy tale stuff.

Dai Greene did it. Knew he'd get a medal. Gold it was.

Funny, his time for the win was slower than the gold medal win 43 years ago in Mexico City. Altitude help that much?

    Not really.

Half ways through the steeplechase they decided to cut across to the high jump. Then decided to show replays of the jumps and the coaches reactions.

Could have quite easily have shown the high jump after the race, or a split screen, and everybody would have been happy.

That's true,or the race after the high jump. It's just that usually this doesn't happen. You're usually lucky to see 10 secs of a winning jump/throw.
