Hi everyone hope you are all looking forward to starting the PGDE.

I have a quick question about books for teaching practice. I received my booklist today and am wondering what is the procedure here, I would imagine the school wont provide all of the books.

Would I be okay to get the role number of the school and order from the publishers I know some people have mentioned this.

What are most people doing about this

    Thanks :)

Some schools will have spare copies and let you use them while you are there. Ask the school. The college you are attending should probably have copies of the books which you can take out and keep renewing while you're on teaching practice. That's what they had in UL while I was there anyway.

Depends on your subjects but I found UCC didn't have the books for my subject. I ordered from the publishers, just ask for a teachers copy and yes, you will need the roll number. I always had them sent directly to the school though, don't know will they post them home to you.....Good luck with the dip :)

I just completed the PGDE this year and I rang the publishers and requested a teacher copy of the books I needed. They will only send them to the school..make sure you have the roll number too! They dont take too long to send out! I think you can order from some publishers online..not sure which ones but I remember doing that!
Its just handy to have your own books rather than taking them out from the library!! Best of luck with the busy year ahead of you!
