Wasn't gone on the new audition phase on the UK version earlier this year but this one isn't too bad. The judges are a little more involved in it and the focus is on the food rather than the persons family/background.
I wonder does Dylan's eye get more bloodshot depending on how shit the food is :pac:

Wow RTE spent the money on this and it shows, very high production values, it lacks the soul the ozzy version had though and as said feels more clinical like the UK version. Might change once we get past selection.

The Ozzie version was absolute crine and rubbish. Soul?? I don't know what you were watching.

If this show is half as good as the bbc one then we are on a winner.

It is obviously the same production team as the bbc one so this was nothing to do with RTE

    I love the Ozzie one!!

Let's hope this is good. We need something decent to watch!:)

Why do they insist on serving food on a chalkboard?!

Couldn't RTE fork out on some paper plates?

    She's mine!

Really? As in you are going out with her?

She obviously brought it in. RTE have nothing to do with the production

They brought in the cookers from home too, eh?

    Cheap bastards!

Loved the Aussie one too. I always watched good chef/bad chef which had that judge Gary in it and it was a great show.

This version looks good too so far, RTE might actually turn out something good for once?! :D

Ha ha love that his dish was crap. He loved himself and the sob story was nothing much.

The Aussie one has incredibly likeable judges... these two, not sure yet!

I think it's a shame they got two judges with little or no history / chemistry together.. you need to have judges who can bounce off each other. These two don't.. at all!

The lad with the glasses reminds me of a lecturer I had in UCD.

EDIT: http://www.ucd.ie/law/staff/ Paul Ward, down at the bottom of the first list.

The judges are tough. Should be a good competition.

What's with your man's eye? It changed from brown to blue at one stage. Is he a robot?

This is a refreshing antithesis to X-Factor/American Idol etc.

On those shows, sob stories go a long way towards getting you through.
On MCIRL, it (refreshingly) carries no weight at all. Bad dish? Tough shit. Time to go home.

I think they cloned India Fisher (narrator of UK version) :)

A bit of guns for show, knives for a pro with Mark here. No need for the showmanship. The food should do the talking.

That change into a jacket should deem a big fat NO alone!

What happens on the next day? Are they going to risk giving out all the aprons before everyone has cooked?
