Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    My mother unit has managed, quite accidently i believe, to grow white truffles. 5oz of the things. i would not know a truffle from a hole in the head, but i take the word of the aul one as she does have letters after her name in microbiology nad stuff, and such people dont tend to just guess about what the white yokes they dig up are.
    anyhoo, my question is; where should she look to sell them? i dont think they are quite the "chuck em in a pot and make soup" things. would be a bit like giving a granny an F1 car, us eating them ourselves. so, looking for ideas of how to get a few bob for the things and see them off to a good home. all ideas appreciated. thanks.

    I'm not goign to say your mother is wrong, she has the MB degree after all. But I thought white truffles only grow in Italy? And maybe a few similar climates around the world

    nah, truffles can grow anywhere the spores find a suitable environment. they are found in various places all over the world. it is a fungus after all.

    If I was you, i'd find the going rate and then approach Michelin starred restaurants directly. Go for a cash deal.

    From a quick google, 1 pound = $5900
    5oz = .31 pounds

    Looking at maybe €1000 to make it attractive for someone. I'm very open to correction on this. Purely google and guess work.

    Truffles can grow anywhere.
    But white truffles are a paticular variety that are notoriously hard to grow, they are pretty much only found in italy.
    You probably have truffles, but not white ones
