    My understanding is that latex tubes can deflate the same as butyl tubes if they puncture, though fortunately I have no direct experience of this. The tubes in tubular tyres are usually latex as far as I know so I guess the same rules apply as with those and I've certainly seen those deflate quietly. Apparently it is best to repair latex tubes with latex patches if you have any, but regular butyl patches supposedly work too - if you held onto your blown latex tubes then they’d make a perfect source of latex patches should you ever need any.

    I’ve blown butyl tubes before while trying to find a very sneaky slow puncture (the process was something like: inflate, listen for escaping air, nothing, inflate some more, listen again, nothing, inflate,…. *BANG* - on the plus side it wasn’t hard to find the “hole” the air was now escaping from, the ragged edges gave it away!). Butyl tubes make an impressive explosion too, on one of those occasions I was in my kitchen at the time and it felt like the sound was echoing off the walls for several minutes afterwards - I was surprised to find both eardrums still intact, after they eventually stopped throbbing. It must have sounded like a shotgun blast from a distance, up closer it was a lot louder than any shotgun I’ve ever heard.

    My new Son schimdt dynamo hub on a open pro rim with a GP4 seasons only weights 20grams more than the stock wheel with a schwalbe lugano.

    I’m jealous, those hubs look great. I’ll swap you a couple of 25mm latex tubes for your wheel, I’ll even settle for just the hub :)

    Sorry no deal I'll give some used bar tape for them!

    Wasn't to bad I think €185 from starbike for hub and €135 for light for the time and electricty savings it's well worth it I think not to have to faff around with chargers and batteries anymore. You can get a shimano 3n80 hub and mavic csp33 rim for €130 and B&M light €60 from Germany that would be practically as good. Think the SON is better long term investment their wiring is much heavier and the 5 year warranty is a big plus.

    these sciroccos are same with quattros from fulcrum ?

    Yep, Fulcrum is Campagnolos brand. Same wheel, same factory, different decals. The idea behind the fulcrum brand was to have Shimano freehubs on Campy wheels without confusing everything, but now they sell Shimano hubs on Campy wheels and most people don't get confused.

    Sciroccos = Quattros
    Zonda = Racing 3's (i think)
    and so on up the range.

    The ceramics - I will give ya a link later when I get to the laptop.
    The SKF ones were €10.20 for a set in Dicksonsin Finglas. They are a bearing specialists

    Is it easy to replace them?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,679 ✭✭✭bcmf

    On khamsins easy enough. A bit tough removing them but got a long threaded bolt with a washer that was almost an exact match,size wise, for the bearingand a nut and carefully wound the new bearing in. Its gotta go in pefectly straight.
    You need the washer to sit on the bearing race so as not to damage the seal and or the bearings

    Ceramic bearings in khamsin is a complete waste, but so it's on the other 99% of the wheels out there, so best of luck B. :p

    Fulcrum Zeros are equivalent to camoagnolo shamals.

    Again just a different spoke configuration on the rear wheel.

    Edit: just saw the previous post!

    Bullets are a very different wheel. Deep section carbon rim bonded to an aluminium braking surface.

    Zeros have a nornal depth aluminium rim
    with ceramic bearings and part carbon hub bodies.

    Are you sure you had Ireland selected as country on both sites? They may not be applying the Irish vat rate. Possible on one is under the threshold for applying the Irish vat.

    They are run as one company I'm sure the websites use the same database. On one seems to be run more as a range of P X bikes than separate brand now than it used to be.
