Lucan Reputation?

My partner and I have the possibility to build a home on some land his family owns just outside Lucan over the next couple years. We’re both from the country so neither of us are overly familiar with Lucan as an area. We would be interested in any feedback on the area in terms of schools/amenities/safety/reputation etc.…
