Are there many people still alive that recall the War of Independence/Civil War?

I just realised it's within the realm of possibility that there are people still alive somewhere who were children during either conflict and might recall them. The oldest man in the state (when he died!) passed away in May, aged 106 so he would have been in his teens when they transpired and possibly had a good recall of the Civil War at least.

    An intersting question.

The definition of very elderly is 85 + . and in Northern Ireland thats 1.6 % of the population or 29,000.

So to have been aware of the Rising and Civil War you would have needed to be 10 +

So the question is what numbers of Irish people are older than 105 for the easter rising and over 100 for the War of Independence.

The easy answer is how many Irish Cemtenarians are there world wide ?

Women outlive men so the likelyhood you have some that remember both and the majority are female.
