The good news story of the capsized yacht where all on board was a welcome one and a reminder of the important contribution the volunteer lifeboat crews play in maritime life. Nice work.
Meanwhile, the rescued sailors have hailed as heroes the volunteer lifeboat crew and emergency services that helped save their lives on Monday night.

There was a really good program on RTE 1 last night about the incident with the Rambler 100 where the voluntary lifeboat crew and an off duty lifeboat volunteer in a separate craft were central to the success of the by now famous rescue. All the training and all the dedication of the volunteers and the other emergency services paid off handsomely. The people who lived to tell the tale showed that.
    Mayday at the Fastnet rock
