Ceiling Paint - what to do?

Hi

I am a total newbie at all this DIY so hoping you can point me in the right direction on how to fix this issue.

I painted the ceiling in my front room today after a leak from upstairs that happened around six months ago. Leak etc was fixed at the time and I finally got around to painting the ceiling today.

I put two coats of paint on the ceiling and the stain is still showing.

Can you advise what I should use to get rid of this? Is there a specific type of primer or paint that could remove this? Where could I get it?

Put a coat of oil based paint over it then finish with the paint you have used and all will be well I have seen painters doing this many times

There is stain blocker thats sprayed from a can that you put on before you paint it.There should be one available in your local hardware store probably in the paint section.

Similar plan as the others - Try using a solvent-based gloss undercoat first. Then paint ceiling as usual!
