Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Good morning all ,
just a quick one ,. i believe one of the election promises made by FG was that the animal cruelty laws were to be revisited and updated upon election , while i realise that for some people there are more important things that the government should be worrying about but i am wondering if a) it actually happened and b) what the proposed changes were .

currently i am disgusted by the treatment of animals in this country and the promise of reform was a major part of my choosing my voting preferences - just wondering is this just another lie that has been sold to me .

also with regards to the government having more important things to worry about - they obviously cant be too busy they still got to take their rather long summer holidays :)

    thanks

The government have said that they will introduce an Animal Welfare Bill but I wouldn't expect it to appear on the agenda for many years.

You have to ask how long would it take to draft legislation? You would think it would be pretty straight forward.

Well if the Dog Breeding Bill is anything to go by there will be a lot of objections. If we were to follow the example of other countries, many here might find the legislation too strict. Also we have a habit of wanting to make our own law rather than copying others.

AFAIK the new government didn't even sign the Dog Breeding Bill into law. It only needed the minister's signature but I didn't here that he signed it.
