tempted to lay doctor finlay at 3.05 or so
a lot of weight and come on the irons would be
    my idea of the winner

ill let this one run though but im curious to see how it gets on
    4.20here 2m

edit: 2nd beaten a neck but the winner
    was always holding dr finlay

something was stopping me laying it though

    5.35 uncle bryn 3..35

shown nothing so far but goes handicapping

    bit late just off

edit: bit late when i started looking
plenty of money for it but well beaten

    6.20 kem conducting 2.38

has to be taken on at the price
form is very ordinary overall, ran well enough last time out
but runs before that very poor
i'd prefer the consistent chilledtothebone and there's
plenty of other possibilities like sky diamond who will
    give their running
the drop in class might do the trick but i'd prefer to
lay a horse at the price that has been very disappointing.

edit: finished 4th sky diamond beats chilledtothebone.
looked a threat 2 furlongs out but ran on at one pace
    beaten about a length
Just a disappointing type that has to be taken on at short odds

    7.20 kem eclipseoftheheart 2.4

torn between laying this and backing always like this at twice the odds

market says it's a 3 horse race but it's possible a newcomer might take it.

form is ordinary enough and no better than the form of always like this imo
hasn't run on this surface though so i've no idea whether that might
    bring out improvement

very small stake and i'm thinking maybe i should let this one go
but i do fancy always like this to put it up to the favourite

    edit: wins

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,937 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

    4.0here king benny 3.2

have to take this on at that price
his latest runs were very poor and although this is
a very week contest i still think it might struggle

the possible downside is that there was a lot of money for
this throughout the day and mcoy is on board so it may
    be showing something at home

i'd prefer tigger myself at around the same odds and there's other
    possibilities like always cruising

    edit: the money was right
    our benny wins

    6.50 Kempton Pulverize 2.38

Lots of reasons why I reckon this price is no value at all, I expect the price to get bigger before the off
    - AW debut
    - 8f debut
    - not bad 7f effort on it's sole start so far but nothing to get carried away with
    - nothing fantastic in the breeding to encourage backing it at these odds

shameless copy and paste from my thread in challenges/logs.

Well beaten but backed into 10/11 SP
I couldn't believe it when I saw the price.

Graduation Night 2.55 Chepstow Lay 2.4

Easy to see why he's favourite. Went from around 6/1 inro 15/8 on his chasing debut last week when winning by 40 plus lengths. However that was good to firm and I couldn't bring myself to back a horse gone from that to heavy ground when he has no form whatsoever on heavy

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

Sorry I forgot to write back after the other. Think that last lay won it's race by about 20 lengths.

I think Wymott could be a good lay today. Not sure what he's trading but he's an 11/4 shot. I fancied him for the Hennessy over 2 furlongs further. Although that was a much hotter race,he looked very slow to me and needs further than today, the one worry is that he'll get away with it because it isn't a great race

    Wymott pulls up.

didnt see any point starting another laying thread so i'm gonna
    try and resurrect this one

i'll give it a crack for 2 weeks for small stakes and take it from there
if i remain disciplined i think i have a good shot at making a little and
ill stay below 3/1 as my heart cant take laying big priced winners or
    close calls

    4.45 all time
layed this 20 mins ago at 3.25
appears to be drifting to the price i think it should be now on bfair
    only 15/8 with the bookies
form is very ordinary and theres nothing between this one and
the next three in the betting on form
looks like a disappointing horse to me

    6.10 rosc beach of falesa

carrying topweight i feel its a huge ask to give weight away to
    this field
the bookies price of 9/4 is a joke
may have had one run too many in a short space of time when
beaten last time out though but before that looked a decent
animal barely coming off the bridle in one race but hadnt much to give
when push came to shove in another race
3.25 to back at the moment with no lay market up yet (7.2)

In my laying days i'd have been laying this for a nice bit (my budget)
if it goes past 4.0 ill give it a miss though
if this one wins then i really feel laying is not for me

had 4 picked out today and only went with all time and the other 3 lost
so ill go with what in my head right now also
gonna have a look at hawsies dream and neige dantan at kemp depending on prices
the latter might improve for the step up in trip but its one to avoid at all costs imo
the former just too short for a race of that nature and is currently around 3.5

    edit: layed at 3.85

    3rd, beaten 3 lengths
looked a threat 2 out travelling well enough and given
a confident ride and every chance by the jockey but
it was a tough ask and never quite looked like getting there
    bsp was 4.5

neige dantan 3rd beaten 2.5 lengths...waited hoping to lay at 4.0 but
    went off at 4.3
    hawsie a non runner

4.25 perth bingo des mottes (around 6/4)

awful short price for what the horse has achieved
last time out was a decent run (5/2f) when well beaten by a 33/1 shot but
a couple of the fancied runners who were travelling well fell late on which
    takes from that imo
this is an awful poor race however and its not easy picking one out
    with any confidence
i'll wait to see if theres much market confidence behind bingo before
i do anything (backed from 5s to 5/2 last time out)

only had a quick look at the day meetings and the only other one
to catch my eye was chrysanthemum which is 5/2 with the bookies

Layed chrysanthemum at 3.8 now as I won't get to see the race (3.0gp)

Bingo too big at 3.35 atm

    chrysanthemum beaten 8l
writing was on the wall half way through the race when
    being scrubbed along
was giving a lot of weight away to a decent enough field
    returned bsp 3.7

    layed bingo at 2.36

finding one to be confident about is hard though
probably should have left it alone...time will tell

should have let that one go with the opposition being that poor
    wins by under a length

    6.30 wor shoegazer currently 4.3

think this fella is worth taking on giving weight away to two
    decent rivals
weakened very tamely over 25f three days ago (26ftoday) and
in its previous race over shorter
they were hurdles and this is a chase and shoegazer is a better chaser
but those two runs, hurdles or not looked bad enough to me
hoping a few quid comes for it before the off so i can lay at 4.0

shoegazer fell at the 2nd last or went for a gap that wasnt there which
may have contributed to his fall
all three were in it at that stage
hard to know how it would have finished but it would have
been between the winner and shoegazer by the looks of it

    6.10 folk alhaarth beauty 2.7

    just layed this at 2.7

ran in a couple of better races but still well beaten
way too short at the price and its on the drift which
can only be good for layers from the tim vaughn stable

    7.25wex domination 2.9

have to take it on at the price

    3.20good Aljamaaheer layed at 3.35

this horse was very unlucky when short of room and beaten under
a length behind trumpet major a few weeks back
despite that the horse is 4lbs worse off and i'd fancy trumpet
    major to uphold the form
chachmaidee and thistle bird are two very good alternatives also

5.20 rip exning halt layed at 4.0 (due off at 5.50 app)

seems an awful short price for a horse whos been consistent
    but very one paced

8.15 coach bombay layed at 3.2

i think the price is just to short for a race of this nature
there has been money for it which worries me a little and it has
won over course and distance already
looking at the opposition its hard to find one that stands out
but theres a few with bits and pieces of form
i could never back winners at dundalk so here hoping this one
doesnt past the post in front

3rd but very unlucky in running
probably a stupid lay in hindsight given how much money
    went on the horse
came so close to backing it in running
