Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Shimano cassette sprocket

I recently bought a 12-25 Ultegra cassette, but instead of changing it (Unopened & too lazy to post back), I just want to change the 12 for an 11 (Or take out a 16/17).

Are they sold separately, because I can't see them listed on Wiggle/CRC? Or am I best return it?

    Thanks

Harris Cyclery was the only place I ever came across that sold them seperately but I don't think they do this anymore.

Local bike shops should have lots off sprockets lying around if you check with them, shouldn't be too hard to get one off them.

Ah yes, I forget about those places that also sell bike related stuff.

I don't think it's that simple. The cassettes with an 11 cog usually need a 1mm spacer fitted and they have an extra plastic spacer as compared with a 12 cog (4 instead of 3, I think). You'd need to check out the Shimano technical docs on the web!

It is not that simple, change the cassette. If you just swap the smallest cog you will go 11-13-14 while a proper 11T will go 11-12-13-14. Close cogs are more important at the small end.

Also: you don't need an 11T.

What did you do with the cassette in the end?
