    On RTE,

I thought Bowman made a poor case for calling it a success in its 50 years, trotting out the usual names like Gay Byrne and himself, but failing to give several examples of how it wasn't a gombeen State broadcaster.

Also,no other party was as loony and obsessive in their anti-republicanism as the Workers Party.

having just listened to her clearly disaproving tones about reforming social wellfare , im more convinced than ever about her politics , wouldnt be surprised to see her heading one of those well paid poverty industry QUANGO,s sometime soon , the kind middle class socilists are drawn to

She has a point though. Unless a person is clairvoyant, how can they be expected to give a future date for when they'll sign off? It's madness. Joan Burton is getting more and more like Maggie Thatcher with each day that passes.

I have to say, I gave up listening to VB's radio programme because I was getting fed up with the endless tribunal re-enactments. I didn't mind the odd one now and again when Gogarty et al took the stand but by the end, it was just plain boring.
When my daughter was a baby of a couple of months, the only way I could get her to fall asleep was by putting on Vincent Browne's radio programme for her. When I heard that he was being axed, I spent the last month taping the programme for her :o

Thanks MrsD. I think you've just proven my point. :D

Anyone who isn't a complete f**king idiot would disapprove of the idea of forcing welfare recipients to predict - in the middle of a recession - their signing-off date.

I think it is funny that Vincent Browne should defend TV3's (the national commercial private public broadcaster) treatment of the genders.

TV3 clearly have gender roles when it comes to presenting and panels. e.g. Xposé (moving 2 female journalist to the show after axing the news, why not move male reporters?) and Midday, which rarely has a male contribution. The list of this kind of gender profiling is prolific across all broadcasters and within print journalism. (The feminist must be delighted  )

Even Browne admits to gender profiling to insure balance on his panels. However I doubt the female producers of his show worry about getting male guest when 2 female "ex-officos" appear on VB.

Elmo, When "Midday" was first launched it was presented by Alan Cantwell, Martin King and Colette Fitzpatrick but TV3 changed the format to make it an Irish version of ITV's "Loose Women". The panel is made up of all females for that reason;)

I've lost all faith in what politicans say.
It's hard to reconcile what everyone from Varadkar to Gilmore said before the election with their positions now.

    Veradkar caught lying again ?

What's even worse is that the arrogant little toad is now denying that he ever said anything about the "not a (red) cent more". I tried reminding him about it on his Facebook page and he then went and barred me from commenting on his page again.

    That's rubbish.

Vinny got his quote and attacked Paschal with it. When Paschal having done the homework produced some facts to rebut it Vinny reverted immediately to the general charge. Shabby.

Dem Americans use fierce flowery language alright.

Pity that most of those so-called "experts" didn't predict anything like the catastrophic collapse a few years back.

Not according to the E-mail Vinny received back from the Danish Bank.

And yet, we are supposed to take what they say now seriously.

A lot of the same heads still trying to predict the future, having failed to see the sh1t was about the hit the fan previously.

Pity that most of those so-called "experts" didn't predict anything like the catastrophic collapse a few years back.

Well, I would apply that to the responses that both Pascal and Vincent got from their Danish friends also... You would think that at this stage people would understand that they may not get a completely honest response when they ask a direct question of a vested interest... (insert obligatory reference to Jim Power here)

But I disagree with you about Leo Varadkar.. He has certainly made mistakes, but he is a good guy... I think what Pascal said just there:
It continues to be in our interest at the moment, to work with these people (i.e. the Troika), cos we cant get any money off anybody else... and find a way of reforming the deal

is the simplest and most accurate analysis of our current predicament..

We are struggling to keep our deficit to 3% at the moment and this treaty will force us to get to down 0.5% every year or face punishment can you imagine the cuts and depression that would cause to get to 0.5%, we could give it a go somewhat if we didnt pay them fcuking bondholders. There will be a fcuking Revolt if we dont get a Referendum.

    That was interesting.
    Vinny's not convinced.
Foiled for the time being. :D

Siobhán O'Donoghue's caption read "Claiming Our Future"? Was she not with The Migrant's Council?

Vincent wrong again on his analysis. Doubt if he'd get through the UCD law exams at this rate.
