That recent Tom Dunne 'Turn Off the Red Light' radio campaign was incredibly disingenuous in claiming all prostitution in Ireland was as a consequence of sex-trafficking.

As for Susan McKay lauding the prohibitionist model adopted by the Swedes:

In 2008 Kajsa Wahlberg, of the human trafficking unit at Sweden's national police board, conceded that accurate statistics are hard to obtain, but estimated that the number of prostitutes in Sweden dropped 40% from 2,500 in 1998 to 1,500 in 2003. However by 2010 she had conceded that the policy had failed, and that issues around prostitution were increasing

Socialstyrelsen (National Board of Health and Welfare)
Monitoring and evaluation of the law was delegated to the Socialstyrelsen, which has produced three reports (2000, 2004, 2007). These acknowledged the difficulties in evaluating the situation and provided no hard evidence that the law had in any way achieved its objectives. The 2007 report states that street prostitution is on the increase after an initial decline and that customers and sex workers now use the internet and mobile phone to communicate.

True, it reminded me of Micheal McDowell's old suggestion that someone skinning up a joint in the west of Ireland is responsible for gun crime and gang warfare in the west of Dublin.

Talking about the aftermath of the referendum tonight.. Polling stations closed an hour ago so they are now discussing what the repercussions of both a yes vote and a no vote...

If its a No vote who will Enda sent out to Europe to apologize ? If he's afraid to appear on V.B. then he will be scared shtiless to appear back in Europe.

It's about time that the people of this country woke up to the fact that Enda Kenny is completely out of his depth as Taoiseach. He's a great example of the fact that if you hang around long enough in the civil service you'll eventually be unnecessarily rewarded with a job outside your capabilities.

That fat lad, Kevin Cardiff knew about the Anglo share price bailout as well.. I think most people in the Department Of Finance did.. There is a lot of people in "public service" who's least interest is in serving the public, and primary motive is filling their personal bank account and covering their own asses.. I've said this before, but you might as well have NO legislation in relation to insider trading if they are not gonna take action on such a blatantly obvious case as the Maple 10..

Seanie Fitz was on the board of the DDDA and was also the head honcho of the bank which lent all that money to the DDDA to buy the Glass Bottle Site. Only in Ireland folks. :rolleyes:

And we know who his buddies were in political circles. These lads should be rounded up and locked away. We need a Judge Roy Bean here. Give them a fair trial and then hang them.

It really shows a contrast when you have VB panels without politicians - everyone gets equal speaking time, and no constant shouting over each other.
