A brit on TV3 now as sport editor? For a minute I thought he had an Irish accent.

I am probably not surprised at that at all.

From removal of womens wombs with/without permission, to giving them infected blood products to giving them a Symphysiotomy with/without their permission, to the Magdelene laundries, the women of Ireland have been truly treated as second class citizens since the inception of this rotten state.

    A Fookin disgrace

that was a powerful interview. fair play to VB for knowing when to just sit back and listen. this really was a fckd up country.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,472 ✭✭✭dublinman1990

I recall this same topic was on RTE's Prime Time a few months ago, but it is nothing new.

It is a horrible life for the women affected to live through.

    Totally agree on both fronts.

Shocking stuff, we seem to be immune to it all, there has been so much scandal and sh1te in this country since the beginning of the state.

We should hang our heads in shame. Tut tut tut.

That "Our Lady of Lourdes" hospital in Drogheda was some kip. Carrying out that procedure until the early 80's !

Neary's hysterectomies were being carried out until 1998 in the same hospital !

    Incredible.

Shocking figures from the solicitor, he started out representing 1500 and there are now less than 200 left.
Sad thing is that lady's generation and even younger generations are almost completely unactive politically and are holding the Catholic church together....if only they realised their power and used it!

genuine question, would a woman after a symphysiotomy be able for following pregnancies? or would it have been impossible for them?

That Priest is some obnoxious asshole.

I imagine it would have been next to impossible, though I'd say some did (Brave Women)

Lies and cover-ups seem to be the order of the day in Ireland still.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,249 ✭✭✭Scioch

Its that kind of "The church can do no wrong" asshole Priest that facilitated the atrocities it has committed over the years.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,472 ✭✭✭dublinman1990

I only watched snippets of Mick Wallace's speech today on RTE's 6.1.

If this VAT muck up didn't happen at all; it would have been a great night for himself and Ireland's fans in Poland.
