Just switched over. Who is the man with the glasses and grey suit, please?
He is a lawyer and a lecturer in NUIG, I missed his name at the start.

    Larry Donnelly.

Indeed BUT money should not have made the difference.
I completely agree, what happened was outrageous and I hope that the DPP's appeal will be successful.

I wouldn't be surprised if Fintan has to clarify things later - i.e that Lyons was convicted of a sexual assault and not rape.

Yes i'd say he would clarify that. It is important and unfair on his family.

I have absolutely no issue paying a fair property tax. However, having paid a huge amount in stamp duty in the last few years, I wish some of the stamp duty paid could be factored in when calculating the new property tax.

If they copied the British model where all the services are provided then I would consider it too but it seems they want our money without having to provide the services.

    Tonight's topic from Fintan O'Toole.

Ireland - It is really a republic in the way we govern ourselves?

Ah not George Hook. He's not even any good at rugby analysis.

That was priceless how she emphasised "my grandparents' generation" and turned around looking at George Hook.

It's amazing how George likes to freely voice his criticism about everyone and anything yet at the first hint of criticism of him he threatens legal action. It doesn't really inspire respect of his opinion.

I think Fintan is the best presenter yet. The show flows much better and he allows the points to be made without constantly interrupting the way Vincent does. I have enjoyed the show this week.

I would fully support renters paying housing tax, if we got the required services, but that just my little pipe dream. Was near london at friends for weekend and they seem happy with it.

Of course renters should pay a property tax.
Is is for the services they use after all, isn't it?

Services that serve their landlords house not theirs, so no they shouldn't pay tax on it.

Elaine Byrne trumped Theo Dorgan big time there - and probably Fintan.

VinB regular Claire Daly has resigned from the Socialist Party. Her resignation stems from her apparent support of Mick Wallace when his tax evasion came to light.

Big blow to the SP I would have thought.

What is the connection with Mick Wallace? .... rather opposite ideologies I would have thought.

I only ever watch when Vincent isn't presenting. I thoroughly enjoyed Fintan presenting :) No condescending carry on
