Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Was watching a re-run of the Graham Norton Show the other day. The audience were asked for their irrational hates. One lady wisely answered with 'men who have cats.' :pac::D

You know what? I'm gonna restart this mission Saturday. About bloody time I asked girls out. 17 years of nothingness has to end now!

Now, I just got to find a girl that likes a stocky, unattractive, nervous, shy, bearded guy. Simples! :o

So while, girls are great and everything, at 17 you really shouldn't be rushing in to get a girlfriend, I know it seems like a huge deal right now but in a few years you'll see it ain't that important. I had a gf at 16 for 3 years and while it was great, once I became single I was so lost on my own for ages, I was so not used to be single at all I had become so dependent on having some one there.

Buuuut then I got use to it, and now I realise I was far too young for such a serious relationship. And trust me, being single in college is far better :pac:

Plenty of time to look for a serious relationship when your older...well, that's my 2 cents, maybe I'm wrong!

    College C & H -ers !

Were you all 18 when you started college? If not how did you manage?

I wont be 18 'til very early December!!!

This is VERY worrying because, well, I love going out and having the craic etc etc and in first year I understand that this occurs a lot :p

I manage at the minute in most places where I'm from by assuming my alter-ego which happens to be quite similar to my cousin (;))

But I'm worried my brilliant disguise tactics wont work in college and I'll be sitting in with no friends, drinking tea. (for those who say ''lots of people dont drink'' etc, I get that, and thats fine, but i do and would prefer friends who are likeminded)

Wow this was way too long.

Please remember that giving ways to do things illegally is against the charter, just so ye remember

Wait till you're 18 for going out in college. There's a fair amount of creeps who try to get with way too drunk students.

Where are you going to college? I know in Limerick all of my friends that were seventeen starting college generally had no problem getting in as their student cards were accepted as ID and there's no date of birth on student cards in Limerick (at least for UL and Mary I anyway). I don't think bouncers are too strict in Galway on student nights either, it's only if it's a really busy night that they might glance at your ID a bit more carefully, most of the time it feels like they're more interested in testing out your inebriation...there is no right answer to 'how much have you had to drink tonight?' :( As for Dublin, from what I gather it's a good bit more difficult there as an underager and I have no knowledge of anywhere else. :P I hope this isn't considered illegal advice, I'm merely stating how things are and not telling LoveLamps here to do anything >.>

Anyway I knew loads of people that weren't eighteen for a while and yeah it was a bit annoying for them at the start but if you're living somewhere decent there'll be good craic regardless of whether you go out or not, none of them seemed too put out by it at all.

Tip toeing around the charter rules here, but I feel like in Maynooth and possibly other places, once the ID is real, 18 and the picture is in the slightest bit similar to you, you can get in that way. When going out in college ive never actually noticed a bouncer look at my photo id and then at my face to confirm it was the same person. (I have been 18 though through all of 1st year though but I know people who arent)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,573 ✭✭✭pajor

Even if you don't get into tea-shops, you'll probably find ample opportunities to drink tea with like minded tea-enthusiasts at house-tea-parties.

  • Registered Users Posts: 781 ✭✭✭LoveLamps

Hopefully, I really don't want to miss out on that side of things, and of course some of the antics that go hand-in-hand with tea-drinking, like biscuit dunking and whatnot..

I know there's a video game thread aound here somewhere but, frankly, I'm too f*cking tired right now to find the thing.

I finished Gone Home a few minutes ago. Having started playing it at 8pm.

I would urge anyone, even those of you who don't play games, to go and play it.

There's a section in the credits for Cats. Surely that's enough to convince y'all?
