Aaaw the cupcake and teddy that Finn gave Neasa!! So cute!! Would they ever get together!

God I hate Finn. He gives Jo, Caoimhe and Zumo a good run for their money in the "inability to say a line in a realistic fashion" stakes

It was Pajos junkbox you are thinking of. She was part of a double act called grabbit and fetchit.
There used be a little drama series built in about a cafe which starred the much missed Pat Leavey aka Hannah Finnigan.

She was Grabbit in Pajo's Junkbox. Which did replace Anything Goes in 1986. I remember it because we'd just moved house and I got up the first Saturday after we moved convinced AG would be back after it's summer holidays and got Pajo instead. I was confused but got over it once Muppet Babies came on. Also I wrote to Pajo's Junkbox a couple of times and I got a goodie bag each time.

That's Val in the yellow jumper, clearly doing a segment on toilets with what looks like Bill Odie.

Thanks for the info, Padd and Iguana. Strangely enough, the characters of Grabbit and Fetchit were in my head but the name Slightly Bonkers was also coming to mind. I now realise that she was in Fortycoats. It was weird because she looked about 40 but she was dressed in a school uniform. :D

Slightly Bonkers was married to Georgie Burgess in The Snapper. She did not wear the school uniform. maybe thats why Georgie cheated on her.

Anyone notice Leo every time he comes on camera he lifts his elbows up to his ears and then plants his hands deep in his coat pockets. Last night I heard Yourman that used to be in glenroe mention about a house at the end of the block, since when did the streets of Dublin become blocks?

Used to see Orla fairly often in the pubs around lucan village, think her family are from there.

He is a member in the gym in Kilbarrack aright. My son is a member and sees him there, said he is a nice bloke. I saw Suzanne in Nolans supermarket the other day.

Craig Gazey who played Graeme Proctor on Corrie was in Dublin during the summer. I saw him walking down Bachelor's Walk with a girl. It was about 2 weeks before his last episode aired.

Speaking of meeting or knowing people from FC I was at Vals 21st birthday, now that's showing my age :)

Good week allright, sadly Fair City generally goes from a high to a low very quickly and there does not seem to be much in terms of exciting storylines on the horizon.

Fair City have just finished filming the Christmas day episode, I bet that must be the reveal to Dermot of the affair... meant to be a cracker and I can't wait! :D

I used to drink in a pub with Bela Doyle and socialise with him and his family when I was a bit younger :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,743 ✭✭✭✭padd b1975

Jim Bartley who plays Bela is on with Marion now.
Apparently he had a stroke during the summer but seems to have recovered well.

Have just finished catching up with with this weeks episodes in Fair City. Wow:eek:

Dearbhla was brilliant I have to say. Great acting. Can see the actress moving on to other things in time as she has the talent to do so.

Tommy is just a pure psychopath and a pathological liar. Even after revealing his affair he was still trying to manipulate the situation afterwards.

Judith seemed more upset that Tommy had brought the affair ''to her doorstop'' than the fact that he actually had another affair...that's a fascinating dymanic in terms of their relationship...the reasons why she keeps him...there's more to come out of the closet there methinks than has already being revealed...there's more to it than a noble attempt to keep the family together..Tommy has some sort of power and control over her ultimately that keeps her from throwing him out..lots of scope for further developments there.

Hope Caoimhe finds some sugar daddy on her holiday abroad and doesn't come back, the Dillon household scenes worked so much better without her this past few weeks...an ideal time and opportunity to write her out of it..a call home to say she won't be back would do it.

Sean is really coming into his own this last while too..look forward to see how his time with Dearbhla develops. Pete and the petition is just awful stuff and I'm not warming to Val at all.

    Happy birthday Neasa! :p

Hope Sash and Robert are back next week!

Hello all, love the story-lines with Tommy and Joe...sure it was going to blow up sooner or later. I guess that will be the Christmas episode then as Angel said.

I was wondering...why is Deegan back in uniform? Was it because of the whole Barry thing? I must have missed that bit.

Speaking of Leo...he hasn't had a story for a while. Surely he is due one soon. Hard to tell who Val will attract :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,438 ✭✭✭livinginkorea

It's really annoying that I can't watch FC on the RTE Player...I can watch Ros na Run and the Apprentice no problem on TG4 and TV3 but FC I am at the mercy of downloads. Wish RTE would pay the actors some money and get it on the player. A hell of a wider audience for sure!

I hope Val goes with Leo, they work well together.

The Deegan story was done off camera, he felt after Bob accusing him of stuff that he wanted to go back on the beat again to hone his skills! Talking about Bob, he has vanished :( Can't see how this Spar, will end 2 managers and Christy (and Christy mentioned to Jo, there would be more roles )

Must say, I loved this weeks episodes, this Jo & Tommy story has had me gripped, fantastic acting by Judith and we can see how nasty Tommy can get. Fantastic stuff.

When did Kelly seem to love Jo & Dermot all of a sudden??

Val and Leo would be good I recon.

Ya I was thinking it was rather sudden of Deegan going into the uniform and nobody really said much about...sure he would hardly take a pay cut would he?!!

I wouldn't have thought so, not sure why they never covered it but I know they mentioned it on the Fair City twitter..

I can't take to Finn, he is right up there for me as bad as Caoimhe, seems to always have this annoying smirk on his face. We rarely see scenes with Finn and Keith either anymore

Spar shops can be reasonably big, presumably this one will be a mini-market type shop. I worked in a Centra back in the 90s that had loads of staff. There were 2 owners who did the administration and management along with store supervision between them. A floor manager, a deli supervisor and deli assistant, they all worked mon-fri 9-5. There was a woman who covered lunches mon-fri 12-4 and one of the part-time staff members would also be on that shift. Then there were about 10 part-time staff who covered the 5-11 shift, weekends and rotated the last day-time shift. And there was a contracted accountant who did the taxes, books and wages. So that's 18 staff including the owners and an accountant. A shop like Christy's would have a good few staff all right.

I am interested to see how they manage to get it to look as big as he imagines it will be, still should be good :) I know there can be lots of staff in these shops but judging by how small his shop originally was

I am glad Sean will be involved as I like his scenes with Christy and I think Christy cares a lot about Sean, you hardly see scenes with him and Niamh though??

Niamh hasn't had a big story for a while, right? I guess she was kinda hanging around with the Barry thing and with Orla but nothing big yet?

I wonder how they are going to plug Spar. Lots of scenes in there? Instead of going to the shop, they'll say going to Spar? Spar bags being carried by extras? It will be interesting to see how they do it. 900k I heard they are getting from Spar. Wonder how long that lasts? Per year?

    Just read this:
It is part of an overall Fair City marketing and sponsorship investment of €900,000 by BWG Foods, owners and operators of the SPAR brand in Ireland, over the next three years.
