Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Has anyone any brilliant ideas to get rid of blackthorn. I'm fighting a loosing battle with it for the past few years. Got lots of it shifted by digger two years ago, but dispite me going round with a topper it's coming back again! Any ideas? Cut, dig up (again), spray, I can't burn it I presume. It beats me why anyone would want to actually plant a blackthorn hedge coz it creeps into the fields if you turn your back on it for a second:mad::mad:
I believe from my father that my grandfather was shifting it with a scyth 50 years ago but I won't be going down that road.

Our area is covered in blackthorn. Well known for it in fact. Last year I noticed it creeping out under ground, like you said. But that was the first year i've ever seen it do that. Maybe it was the year or something. If you spray it, it may kill back along the creep to the main plant and leave a big hole in the ditch.

That's what I thought myself. I run around the outskirts with a mower or topper (whichever happens to be on the tractor at the time). I've also been known to head into the field with a hedge clippers - great way to burn off bad mood. But the battle is being lost badly this year, there are hundreds of little plants laughing at me through the grass. Maybe the cold winters have something to do with it. As to walking sticks???? Give me strength!!!!!!
