Talked to the owner who seemed very nice. He said it was for sale at the auction in Swords on Sunday but it was a disaster there. Still for sale though!

Taxed until June 2015 too :D

I'm assuming this is an import?

But, don't Dublin imports registrations start with 12?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,079 ✭✭✭✭Duke O Smiley

Its an older import hence lack of a 120xxx plate

From a NI specialist according to the owner.

I might be mistaken, but they weren't actually sold new in the republic were they?

I don't think so. Who would have bought it? I don't think any Alpine was ever offered here. Gordini yes, even Turbos but I don't think Alpines were offered

it must be one hell of a renault to say its still going from that era, I never knew it existed, it looks very well for its age, on the outside anyway.

I wish I'd taken a picture of these from the front as well.

    IMG_5167.jpg

I couldn't take a picture of these from the front. They're both M5s but it's hard to tell with the bottom one due to the darkness and colour of the car.

I know most of these aren't particularly standout cars but I like the comparisons of different generations.

That 87 6 series is parked around the corner from me in a garage. The same guy owns the 640d beside it and has just taken delivery of a 151 640d

Used to pass it there regularly too. Has it moved house down the road to sun drive I wonder?

No. Although I thought it used to be on a driveway nearer Ballsbridge but maybe there are 2.

Are they the original alloys? If not, the originals are desperately needed!

Also, What a poor design of a wiper, wouldn't do any good for aerodynamics!

The alloys are in the boot but the correct size tyres for them are very hard to source and very very expensive. The Wipers are a legacy issue from previous Alpine models.

Not as nice as the 358 spider I had a couple of weeks ago, but I do like the 355 (this one is from 1995). It made for a nice trip from Dublin to Wicklow.
