this post sums up why i hate fantasy football.

Ah jaysus lighten up! It's only a bit of craic.

I'm one of the most passionate United fans going... but I keep a keen eye out for the fantasy football players. I wouldnt say 4-3 would be my ideal score... maybe 10-3 to Chelsea more like it :)

I get what homer is saying though. One of my mates said when Vidic went off injured "ah well at least Evans will be cheaper in fantasy football". I bit my tongue a little then!

    Well that's just ridiculous.

Why would anyone buy Evans! :D

In fairness I think that for a defender in FF you only need to look at three things.

Does the team concede many goals? If no, pick a regular starter, even if they are shíte. Points generally arent awarded for good play, just clean sheets.

Defenders dont score on a regular enough basis to warrant picking them on this alone.

If you are buying a fullback just look for consistent assist levels.

It is also frustrating because if Cleverley had never got injured we would have a great indication by now how good he really is and if he is ready for the PL or still a little of the pace.

We already had a great indication of how good he really is. Extremely good and more than ready for the PL.

Chelsea are the bookies favorites for the game, which is a little surprising even considering the game is at the Bridge.

Although saying that, besides City's games away to United and Spurs(when we and Spurs ad big problems at the time), they have struggled away to Bayern, Napoli and Liverpool so I guess Chelsea could do something tonight.

I'm very confident that Chelsea will get a result tonight. 2 euro on 50-1 on a 3-3. Can't wait to buy the Porsche.

yes, but when you see united fans reacting to a 2-0 win for city with "oh get in, silva and aguero scored", it makes my blood boil.

i do fantasy football, but i do not have any players from city, liverpool or chelsea who are likely to score goals.

my strike force is rooney, shane long and van persie. last year it was rooney, hernandez and diouf :p

i happen to be winning 2 leagues with my non rivals approach!

jones is going well, as is nani and then i had rooney as captain in his spell and now van persie. stoke are decent in defence, have begovic in goals and a few more players then who will pick up 4-6 points every week.

i just feel guilty picking players who i dont like. i have enrique, but he was a newcastle player when i picked him!

Enough to know he can make a difference..a big one.

But incase you didn't google it, 5 league games for us.

25 for Wigan last term scoring 4 mostly from the right wing

33 for Watford the previous season scoring 11

Let's see how city bounce back now against arsenal at the weekend.

Nice to have the gap down to 2 points. QPR will be tough at the weekend though, we have to capitalise on the city slip up with 3 points

Its very possible if City slip up v Arsenal on Sunday we could be top for Christmas! Amazing turnaround if it comes to pass. City were extremely negative once the equaliser went in.

The last 2 weeks have been heaven on Monday Night Football. Gary Neville getting the chance to analyse a Liverpool defeat last week and a City defeat this week!:D

little bit happier this evening,. if only the officials did their job against newcastle, the league would be a level game tonight, which considering how bad we have played, the money they spent and the huge injuries we have had, is pleasing for us.

city are due a few injuries, i cant think of many of their important players whove been injured.

if vidic didnt get injured last week, i would feel alot more confident, but at least city have shown vulberabilty lately away to qpr, liverpool and chelsea.

    Not all that surprising.
City had a very easy start to the season fixture wise and December was always going to be a tough month for them.
Utd have had a relatively easy run of matches since the loss to City .
I said after the City loss that I wouldnt be surprised if Utd were top by the new Year .

id feel alot more confident if 40% of our squad wasnt injured and especially vidic.

any word on fletcher, ando, cleverly, berba, the twins, owen and hernandez being available for christmas?

according to physio room, here is the update - hard to know how accurate though.

4 players back possibly for the blackburn game and i think next week we may get berba on the bench. fletcher not on the list, so must not be a big knock and i expect ando back before february. we need better luck with injuries and hopefully city will pick up 4 or 5.

Hopefully the doom mongers see what can happen tonight. City were being spoken of as near unbeatable and common sense was being ignored. United are only two behind, not bad for a "poor" team :pac:

While I agree with you, I still think united need to spend to improve/cover injuries in January. I've never been a fan of Carrick, but if we had a top top quality midfielder to put in there with him, he'd be fine. But We do have a big gaping hole in the centre of the pitch. And While it's great that we're so close to city, I still think improvement is needed.

see how him and Jones get on until January imo, they've been very impressive together but I can see Fergie rotating again. I'd like the same starting 11 from the last game to play until January barring injuries/fatigue around Christmas.

I love our crisis. Just two points off the top. With the injury crisis we had we have done very well to be in the position we are in. Champions league exit was a blip, hopefully it will spur our players to prove that we are still team to beat.

Our first choice CB was out for 2 months and now out for close to a year.
Our CMs who started season so well for us are injured and haven't played together for 2 months and wont be for another 2 months. Fletcher has become a mystery player with no fitness news.
Valenica had hard time with his injuries and lack of match fitness.
Hernandez, Welbeck, Smalling, Twins all missed so many games and not to forget we have very young GK from different league who is still settling in.

Still only 2 points off the top. I would take it.

I was just checking stats for this season. We have so many player who haven't started 50% of league games (Few just edged it)

    Anderson - 8
    Berbatov - 1
    Smalling - 8
    Hernandez - 9
    Vidic - 6
    Carrick - 4
    Welbeck - 8
    Rafael - 0
    Cleverley - 5
    Fletcher - 7
    Valencia - 3

i take what your saying, but we are out of the CL and that is an absolute embarassment and a disaster. no matter what way you spin that, its just horrific. we could be out of the fa cup at round 3, that game could go either way.

in terms of crisis, our biggest issue is injurys and after that, its a lack of form to several players like the twins (injurys aside), rio, evra and to a lesser extent rooney, young.

its the loss of vidic that has me worried. if we win the league this year, i think it will rank as our greatest ever achievement.

Tried to make this point last week and i was shot down by a few,no CL football is about as bad as it can get before xmas as a Utd fan,i do not fancy us against City in the cup unless we have turned a corner form and injury wise before then.
If we go out we are left with the league as our only target for the rest of the season, disappointing i tell you...
As for the Europa league i do not believe Fergie will give this any sort of priority,Carling cup team will be used in this i suspect..

Manchester Evening News linking us with a bid for Gary Cahill (very tenuous link)

The Express also claim that Spurs are looking to get Kaka on loan, after they signed VDV for peanuts I reckon they might pull it off.Wouldn't mid us going for him 'til the end of the season.Madrid might do business there.

There it is folks, the first bit of transfer muppetry.

We do need cover at centre half now Vidic is out and Fergie seems intent on playing Jones in midfield and Smalling full back.I've no great faith in Rio (fitness) and Evans (error prone) in our central defence long term.

To be fair, Chelsea had a large slice of luck.
Should have been down to 10 men and they should have killed us off in the first 25 mins.......
But then if you dont take your chances...etc!

I still think its between Utd and City, with Utd edging it as you have the experience to get over the line.
City will have home advantage when you play them next as well

Makes it very interesting indeed though!

Very big one. The injury list we had this season was too big and we are in a good position only because of our depth in squad. Considering all the injury crisis we had we have done very well in the league.

I dont think there is any intent at all to play Smalling at RB, I would suggest that it is because of Rafael being injured for such a long period, coupled with the fact that Smalling is fitting in very well. It must also be kept in mind that Fergie has a lot of faith in Evans at CB and would probably look at him as being a more senior defender than Smalling at this stage. Evans was immense on Saturday I felt, havent watched it live since but he was everywhere and winning everything.

Jones cant be left out of the team imo, he is like the defending version of Rooney, a tremendous talent whose best position in years to come is CB but he would do a good job anywhere on the pitch if you asked him to, and he is full of energy and enthusiasm, its just a joy to watch the lad on the pitch.

Couldn't agree more. When we were about to sign I was like 16 Million?WTF. Now its 16 Million? Thats it?

Still I'm not sure whether he will end up as CB or CM though. He has very good engine to play box to box role.

He would need to improve in certain aspects to become a first choice midfielder I would think, but at the age he is and the talent he has shown so far I dont doubt he could do it.

The amount of times on Saturday he was available and free at the edge of the box screaming for the ball to be played back to him was unreal. Like at least 4 or 5. And the only time he got it a player came out to shut him down, he passed out wide and Rooney scored the volley iirc.

The hunger he has to play well is so refreshing to see, definitely my favourite player at the club by some distance right now.

I'm not a huge fan of Cahill to be honest. Would much rather the beast that is Samba as cover!

When Vidic got injured I thought we'd be ok with Jones going in there. But he's played so well in midfield recently I'd like to see him stay there for a few games. He could be that box to box midfielder we've been missing if he continues to improve.

With Jones, Welbeck, Rooney, Cleverley, Nani we have got so much energy, work rate it is so refreshing.

Tbh I expected few carling cup games and few league games against weaker teams for Jones, but he is near undroppable.

And adding to your point, his ability to run like a train is fucking awesome. I'm waiting for him to finish off one of those runs.
