A fellow leeds supporter/sufferer joked at work today that at the going rate within 10 years everyone on the planet will be within 5 Kms of a former leeds manager .

sometimes, just maybe, if you ignore something, it will go away.....

Please tell me that's a joke

Wasn't that a bet he had with the supporters that if Rotherham guaranteed safety in Championship before the trip to Leeds he'd wear flip flops, sombrero etc to Elland Rd ?

Not an awful lot to like about the man judging by the article around his time at Boston - but he did deliver back to back promotions for Rotherham... on that basis I'd give him a deal of respect

    From Paddy Power yesterday...

"Scientists have predicted that by 2017, you will never be more than 6 feet away from a former Leeds Utd manager"

I think Cellino has managed to do what no one else did, and actually just make me laugh at the whole farce. I used the "you can only" laugh line before during relegations and financial meltdowns, the alternative was too depressing.

But now you really can only laugh, he has turned the club into a circus, a freakshow. I said it last year, I'd have Bates back. Even if Evans does well, so what? With this owner there'll be some other complete cock up just around the corner.

Listening to West Yorkshire Sport on BBC Leeds just now, chief sports writer for BBC Sheffield appears to indicate that Evans' appointment could just turn out to be a master stroke, with several promotions at Boston, Crawley and Rotherham. Seems to have a particularly good knack at picking out promising players, as well as getting rid od dissenting troublemakers.

Maybe Cellino is spot on saying Rosler was too nice. He maybe pulled the trigger while he had the chance before his latest ban, and while a few wins would catapult us up the table

You could be right... But Cellino doesnt seem to want to give managers longer than a few months to get things going...

Rosler arrived with big expectations, his record in Wigan completely brushed under the carpet and riding high on his time at Brentford. We have a pretty decent squad now compared to that which Warnock or McDermot had and yet , with 2 wins, 5 draws and 4 losses, I'm shocked he lasted this long. We all know it's a results driven business. Sure look at Chelsea - another loss and Mourinho would we looking very precarious.n

I started the season betting on Leeds when they went a goal down - odds then are pretty good to turn around to a win, but then I gacve up bothering. Like Massimo said, you really could not see the wins coming.

When we were in school, we had teachers who may have known their subjects inside out, but were useless at teaching their pupils. Rosler appears to be a good analyst but maybe he simply over-thought everything

A precious away point at Fulham tonight.

Looking at the stats we were the better team, most possession, most shots, most shots on target and keeper was the quiter of the two.

Was i the only one listening to the live commentary ? We failed to win because of a truely inspired Fulham goalkeeper.

Popey and Whelan struggled to pick a MotM from our 11 players. Byram and Adeiemi (well you know who i mean) we singled out by Evans as being absolutely excellent.

I loved Evans' comment at the end of his interview with Popey - "I'm unbeaten"

Thought this was a very good article that spells out exactly how I personally feel better than I ever could.

I cant stand Cellino, its just I love leeds more. Really frustrating

    1-0 Bolton.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,790 ✭✭✭Bret Hart

1-1 in the end. Antenucci with the equaliser from the spot on 71 minutes. Straight red for Gouano who gave away the penalty.

Leeds really are the draw specialist.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,907 ✭✭✭✭Kristopherus

Antenucci levelled with a peno. 2 draws for Evans. Not the worst of starts, I suppose. Is there any truth in the rumour that Evans has signed a 2-month contract ????

Both 2 points coming from a goal down as well and as usually from Leeds this season, racking up a draw one after the other. That must be there sixth or seventh draw from a losing position.

It's most likely true I'd say, nothing about Leeds surprises me anymore.

And the 2 goals scored in the last 2 games were penos. Have the forwards got no teeth????

Going by the fact that they couldn't get a winner with a man advantage for about 20 plus minutes,it'd certainly look like there's no bite or cutting edge to any of the Leeds forwards.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,434 ✭✭✭Lamper.sffc

Also no goals coming from other players either and with Silvestri making howlers at the back it all makes it very difficult to win a game.

Rolling contract until the end of the June with an option of a second season is what I read initially. So basically no payout if he gets shown the road this season...

We are absolutely terrible, there's no doubt about it. Blackburn look like they are going score more too.

How bad are we right now. So hard to watch. Need more width in the second half.

I'd have Wood off, doesn't seem to have any energy or something.

To cheer myself up, I flicked over to "Class of 92, Out of their League" on BBC1 to see Speed, Chapman, Sterland, Dorigo, Strachan and co...

This is not looking good. Starting to get worried.

Its not good when the majority of your side is afraid to play in front of its own fans. That spells trouble no matter how good a squad is supposed to be. No confidence at all at home and a mad man running the show. Personally I just want Cellino out. To much turmoil which has to be having an effect again on the team.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,906 ✭✭✭SarahBM

The only word for that "performance" tonight was shocking. I cannot believe how bad we played.

The club has not much money, They can only get players on emergency loan deals, Then why not drop 75% of that under performing team and let the youngsters have a go. They would be hungry for first team football and would probably play with more passion.

Breaking news in the YEP that Cellino is "considering his future" at Leeds. http://m.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/live/daily?1245212

    Please let it be true.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,185 ✭✭✭championc

Maybe i've got this all wrong but what affect does Celino have on the 95 min on the pitch last night ? The players all get paid so they have no worries there.

Last night, it became glaringly obvious that some players just cannot handle the pressure of playing in front of 20,000 expectant fans. Evans confirmed in a quite frank interview with Popey after the match last night.

What's the point in even bothering to develop as a player when your boss is a freakshow, who might axe you because you wear a purple shirt on a Monday, when your manager might be gone next week, when the person playing beside you could be some Italian loanee next month?

You'd think that all players would do a professional job, on the basis that their performances dictate their resale value and subsequentally the value of their next contract. A lazy player will be dropped and will be removed from the shop window.

You're assuming that a below average player, who is comfortably off, would see it that way

Rumours circulating tonight that Massimo Cellino has agreed to sell his controlling stake in Leeds to a fans group

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,185 ✭✭✭championc

It's no rumour - it's fact. While fans wanted a voice, i don't think they had anticipated being offered a majority controlling stake.

  • Registered Users Posts: 369 ✭✭RichardoKhan

Its a guise for Cellinio to buy time. He perfectly well knows they will have to take some time to put together a package & even at that it may well be short of what he wants. In the meanwhile Evans might just string some results together.
Some Fans are very fickle they will have forgotten how much they despise him come over side of two or three wins on the bounce.
Then he will belittle the offer & say how can anyone right minded take these guys serious. Damage the overall case for fan ownership & know the average fan will fall for it

BUT Nothing will change in the long run.........for Il Ego

All to buy time, I agree. Can't see it ever happening and not sure would it be the best thing to take LUFC forward either given the state of the books currently. Needs a total revamp from someone with very deep pockets or an inevitable administration.

Yeah, would be shocked if he goes so quietly. And in fairness to him, I could understand that, with Leeds you have this idea that if things click it could be a giant and generate huge money, unlike so many other clubs that were bought as toys. I doubt he's capable of telling himself that he's not the man to do it.

  • Registered Users, Subscribers, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47,336 ✭✭✭✭Zaph

Statement from Cellino today saying he won't be attending any more games:
“It pains me to make this decision as I have put my heart and soul into this club.

“But what I was subjected to at the Blackburn game left me feeling like I had no other option but to take a step away.

“After the time, effort and emotion I have given to the club to try and enable us to move forward, it hurt me a lot to hear the fans singing what they did on Thursday night.

“The fans made it clear they believe I am no longer the best person for this job, and for the first time I am starting to think that they may be correct.”

Be interesting to see how long that lasts.

:D fair point! His record with the Rabbitohs ain't bad though in fairness.

Part of Crowe's success at rabbitohs is that he engaged with the fan base. Basically he listened as he knew the Rabbitohs had great fans, a long history & were a bit of a sleeping giant. Sound Familiar?
