Great news on Jansson, quality player and delighted to have him on a perm. Would have been a shame to see him go.

Huddersfield game is massive this weekend, come on Leeds...

Big weekend of games for all the top 6:

    Newcastle vs Derby
    Wigan vs Wednesday
    Ipswich vs Reading
    Brentford vs Brighton

    Things could change a lot!

I can see the gap closing on Newcastle, bar Leeds losing obviously. Hopefully the extra day rest suits us.

If anybody is interested, Leeds U23's are playing against Shamrock Rovers on February 12th.

    Reading unexpectedly drop points anyway.

"Leeds have won their last two away league fixtures against Huddersfield - they've never won three in succession against their West Yorkshire rivals."

    Ugh...same as before Barnsley away

Ah but they haven't included the Monk effect!

I'd still take a draw today, then a couple of decent home fixtures to look forward to

lufc v Huddersfield: Green, Ayling, Bartley, Jansson, Berardi, Bridcutt, Vieira, Dallas, Hernandez, Doukara, Wood

Barrow and Pedraza both on the bench. Other subs: Silvestri, Cooper, Coyle, O'Kane, Antonsson.

Little surprised by Vieira in for O'Kane

Barrow and Pedraza both on the bench.

Well, at least the option is there to wheel Barrow out if things not going well. :o

    Fingers firmly crossed for today.

    MOT.

They might decide to spring Coyle from the bench...

Unfortunately it has. They've looked far more likely to score.

Huddersfield manager has to get a hefty ban for that, running across opponents area to celebrate/goad.

His team worth the win though...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,541 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Will they show the penalty appeal again?

Wagner must be given a big ban for that!

Goal was coming but an irritating goal to concede.

on the plus side, liked the look of Pedrazza

At least Brentford are doing us a favour at the moment, 2-0 up against Brighton.

Jesus lads, 2 defeats in a couple of weeks has knocked the life out of this thread!

We surely all know what it's like to follow Leeds. It's constant disappointment. Monk is performing a minor miracle, we're in the playoff spots still despite facing tough away games like derbies against Barnsley and Huddersfield. At best they were each 1 point missed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,214 ✭✭✭championc

Nice to see Norwich dropping 2 points last night.

Hopefully we kick on from here. In all honesty, one point for each of us last Sunday was no use. It needs 3's to catch Brighton and Newcastle

I think a lot of us are thinking a top 2 spot is achievable Conor which is probably why we might be a bit down at the mo. I still think top 2 is possible and the next run of games gives us every chance of closing the gap. Playoffs look like a good bet at this stage but wouldn't it be lovely if we could pip Newcastle to an automatic spot!

I'm still very positive in terms of the outlook for this season - consistency, which is one thing Leeds have not have for a number of years, is key and thankfully, bar a couple of narrow defeats, the team is getting results.

Marry that with the permanent signings of hernandez and pontus and the load signings of barrow and pedrazzo, I think the future looks bright.

That said, I hate the play offs. Absolute lottery in my opinion. Auto promotion would be uber sexy...

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,070 ✭✭✭purple hands

What is this positive outlook lark....

In fairness, haven't lost two matches in a row since August-September as far as I can tell. Cardiff at home this weekend looks like it'll have a big crowd too

Anyone heading over before season is out?

I'm awaiting to see what sky do for the Newcastle game before heading there. Mate is a Newcastle fan so should be fun. It should be left on the Saturday, most games are the Friday but this still shows up as Saturday.

Definitely hoping to get a game in. Had flights booked for the forest game but couldn't go cos the FA cup rescheduling wrecked it!

0-2 a bad day, and at home:( .

Ffs, 2-0 to Cardiff. Awful defending from a free for the first (although admittedly it was a very good cross) and one of their players just waltzed through the defence and passed to an unmarked team mate for the second.

    Bridcutt now sent off !!!!

The final ball letting us down. Not good enough. Our annual meltdown begins.
Simply put there are too many weak links in our team who can't pass a football.

    My bad :o

Poor all around today, can only hope they bounce back quickly on Tuesday

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,947 ✭✭✭Ceist_Beag

Think we can safely say top 2 is gone now. This will be a test of Monk, 4 defeats in 6 is poor form and might be hard to turn around in time to maintain our playoff challenge. Bridcutt will be a loss and I can't think of anyone who is to come back into the team who can help turn it around. This run of games are all winnable so a win on Tuesday is crucial.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,331 ✭✭✭Keyzer

Poor result, hopefully we can turn this around with a win against Bristol City who are in 20th position who've had 2 wins and 2 draws in their last four games.

45pts up for grabs in our remaining 15 matches. Some really critical matches though including the top two and a number of the teams around us.

Barring a complete implosion from all teams above us, automatic promotion is highly unlikely. Remaining in the playoff places come end of the season would be a great achievement but, aside from lip service, it means nothing given we head into the lottery of the playoff's.

Oh I'm not sure I agree with that. Or at least, after following Leeds for over 30 years, I'm not sure I would condemn this bunch...believe me I have cursed and sworn at plenty in the past! Far from it, they have exceeded my expectations and actually given us plenty to cheer about, and have played with a tempo I haven't seen in a long time. It was bound to hit a rough patch, but 2 of the 3 recent losses were away to other clubs doing well, Saturday's result was the first really bad one in a long time.
