Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Was off work today so got round to finishing season 1 of Game of Thrones.

Colour me very impressed with it.

Quite pleased after the let down The Wire turned out to be for me.

Any of you fine folks watched it?

I loved it, the little girl who plays Arya is oustanding in it, love her character. opening credits are brilliant as well.

Ya thought that was excellent; actually got the books for my birthday recently (since they're so highly renowned), and am reading them now.

The first GoT season ends kind of abruptly, and I got properly hooked into it, so don't want to wait another year to continue things :)

Ended up staying in work until nearly 9pm as they landed a week long trip to London from Sunday on me yesterday, but its all expenses covered and they booked a really nice hotel for me to stay in too, so can't really complain :D

Anyway managed to get a few of those fine german beers and some rather tasty bratwurst too, all good.. :p

Was out in a pub last night, having a few with me mate and his new missus, when out of nowhere appears the girl from Subway I fancy the bejaysus of.
Got chatting to her, she was really sound, told me she would give me a few freebie cookies next time I'm in. ("I'm well in here" thinks me..back of the netttt!)
    Whoop!
Then over lands her girlfriend...and not the "Hey gurlfriend!" types neither, an actual girlfriend (who was also kinda hawt)
    Boo.

I've never had the issues with Jager Bombs that others get, I'm normally fine the next day. Wine has given me far more troubles.

I'm not a wine drinker by any means sadly.
Well, unless Buckfast tonic wine is regarded as wine?!
Hoh!..Sickened, I was about to download "Bruno", only to discover that me diskspace is full!..

I don't really drink wine any more. Maybe a glass if I were at a dinner. I think too many slop far too much wine into them.

Nice - we should just organise a boards beers there alltogether :D

I've decided I need to travel more - hoping to get a few short breaks in next year.

Berlin, Rome, Prague....loads of places I've never been to

Mallorca was nice and I relaxed/did nothing but sun bathe but I kinda want to see more of the world - city breaks are knackering but I'm hoping to get two relaxing holidays in the next 4/5 years also

South Africa & California are top of the list

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,762 ✭✭✭✭stupidusername

Yeah South Africa would be an experience I'd say. Rome is great,do go there. I'd go back anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,385 ✭✭✭✭D'Agger

Well I like history and I'd love to see the colosseum and other such sights in Rome, Same with wanting to go to Berlin - It's a lovely city apparently but I'd be looking to see WWII related things.

I don't know what's drawing me to South Africa - I've always just imagined it to be a great country to visit and anybody I know who's gone there has praised it hugely

Gawd flat hunting sucks. Such a paucity of places around Ranelagh that are in any way attractive. So many matchbox bedsits with the oven next to the bed costing 5, 600 euro - who on earth would want to live in these!?

Only been looking a week but am already sick to death of the amount of bad places out there still expecting boom rents for tiny box rooms.

On my way to view a place in Portobello right now so hopefully it will be good and end this searching crap.

best i ever saw was a house where "3 people currently living"
arranged a viewing with LL as they were the contact on ad
good thing i showed up early
"oh there's about 3 couples living here and another few guys. you'd be sharing the bathroom with the few guys. no we dont have a sitting room it was converted into another bedroom"

or the place where the "main bathroom" was clearly a former ensuite. and still a bloody tiny one at that. "oh my mum is the landlady. washing machine? no i wouldnt know about that"
    :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Has to be said, the last week or so has provided me with some awesome music. Can't imagine there's many fans of metal here but the new Machine Head and Mastodon albums are amazing. Hell even the new Blink 182 album is providing some nice listening!

Any recommendations of music to listen to, need to broaden things a bit. Been hooked on the music from the last two Gears of War ads too, lovely easy listening stuff.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,925 ✭✭✭Otis Driftwood

What type of stuff are you after HB?

I have to say, neither the Mastodon nor Machine Head albums are doing much for me.Im pretty disappointed with Machine Heads one in particular.

Meh,not to bothered though as next month see's new albums from Nile,Absu,As You Drown,Molotov Solution,Carnifex and Krisiun so its all good in the metal hood.

Anything really man! Been listening to the new Opeth album too but it's a bit poor. Some decent metal recommendations would be cool, don't really read too many metal reviews anymore so have fallen slightly out of the loop.
