New old watch?

I've always like Soviet things and pretty much anything that has historical signifigance. Particularly military items. I'm new to watches (I've a sekonda watch that I got for my communion that I'm still wearing, I'm 17 now ).

So what cheap Soviet, Military, Good condition watch would you recommend.

As for the budget, I don't know. I'll probably sell something in the house like a PC (Have loads) or a few DVD's to cover costs. Ideally under €50, or am I being insane?

    Help appreciated!

I take it, it would be a mortal sin to put a NATO strap on a Russian watch right?

Here's a few I like the look of:

    My favourite so far:

Not to burst your bubble ...but none of the above watches are "military" nor of much historical significance ...they just look like that.

Real Soviet military watches have no fancy dials and a rare as hens teeth (and therefore well out of your budget ... and mine too :D)

Stretch your budget just a little (not much) and it'll buy you a new Vostok Komandirskie or Amphibia with any amount of military symbols on it. By buying new you avoid all the fakes, frankens and heaps of crap that clutter ebay.

    Example:

    921261-600x900.jpg

Yours for 60 Dollars plus freight ...so slightly over 50 euro all in

Thank you so much, you haven't burst my bubble at all. :) I've been Google-ing/using Wikipedia and I was just about to ask about the Vostok Komandirskie

Time to get selling stuff around the house!

It seems those watches come with useless straps, should I get a silicone dive strap or a nato strap? What brands/straps would you recommend?

Best place for straps. Their natos are pretty decent

    What does 10/20/30/40/50 stand for?

FWIW, the Vostok cheapo "leather" strap is actually quite comfortable and very hard wearing.

I'd hold off on buying something else until you've had it on for a few days and decided that you really don't like it.
