When it says AQA which mean the last qualified person got into coarse does that applie that a person who is not a mature student got onto the corase like for example when is says AQA does that applie to a peson under 21 that is not a mature student got the place for example an 18 year old was the last person to qualifie that had under 100 points got into it so the points were it says for each year is AQA only applies to non mature students under 21

Yes, it means that someone doing the LC could have just met the basic requirements and gotten the course. For example, they might have met the basic requirement of passing 4 subjects at ordinary level, and despite getting only 20 CAO points they were still offered the course.

But please, use some punctuation in your next posts, it makes life easier for those who try to answer your questions.

ok so does that mean that the mature student does not get put into that were it has AQA

so that the points for a coarse say AQA only applies to non-mature students under the age of 21

but say if a mature student has a leaving cert if a non mature student gets more points that them then the non mature student gets the place.

It says AQA instead of points because not enough people applied to fill spaces on that course, including mature students and LC students.
It means everyone who applied (and met the basic requirements) got in. So all mature students and those LC students who met the basic requirements.

Yes, it would mean that the person with more points gets a place ahead of the mature student. But because there are enough spaces on the course to cater for both students, everyone gets in and the idea of points is sort of forgotten about. It then reverts to basic requirements.

there is a number of places reserve for mature students do they not compete in points with non-mature students and if so do their points for there LC record as the lowest on cao to get in so example a mature student do they not count there points for entry purposes if there is a number of place reserved for them

No what i meant was the AQA in the points does that mean that a lc student. That is a non-mature student got a place that had under 100 points or since mature students have place reserve for them and they have there leving cert but they do not require it to get in does that mean that there points say if 30 does that get recorded as AQA or is there results not include in the points history were one coarse might say aqa meaning that the last person to get in got under 100 points

I think if you understand two principles you should be answer this question for yourself (what ever your actual question is, it's impossible to tell).

Mature students can apply for a course via CAO just like any other Leaving Cert student. If the course says AQA it means everyone that applied who met the minimum requirements (passes in specific subjects etc.) were offered places.

Mature students can also apply separately directly to the College, their application will be accepted/refused on a individual basis and AQA will not be applicable to them.

For some colleges (e.g. TCD) you still apply to the college as a mature student via the CAO and the extra material (personal statement etc.) is included in the application and you will be notified via CAO.

For mature nursing / midwifery it's completely different and the above does not apply.

So in conclusion it depends, but generally doesn't include those who applied on the sole basis of mature status as they do have separate application procedure.

ok what i mean if AQA is there on the points does that mean that a non-mature student got in with under 100 points like does the points not apply to them in a sense that the last person qualified got under 100 points hence AQA mean that it was a non-mature student who got in with under 100 points

I'm guessing what you want to know is if you got 100 points in the leaving certificate and applied for a course which last year was AQA, would you get a place on the course this year?

Yes. Once the person met the basic requirements of the course and the demand for places does not increase, they would be eligble for the course. AQA means everyone applied got a place on the course. (usually, the course isn't filled).

The point system is in place to give the highest ranking applicant a place over people with less points. If there isn't much demand for a course, applicants with low points could get on the course.

Matures student entry is not based on points so a school leaver/person using points is not competing with Mature students for places. The college sets aside a number of places for mature students. Mature students do not take places away from normal entry route applicants.
