Wasps, mice, people in big foam costumes like barney or the teletubbies, and ketchup. Ketchup really freaks me out and its EVERYWHERE! The smell, seeing other people eat it, even seeing the crusty bit people leave around the top of the bottle, holy god I hate it so much. Not too fond of flying either as my first flight had horrendous turbulence and the big fat guy beside me was hyperventilating and gripping the seat infront of him, I woke up from my nap and all I could see was him, I thought we were going down.

I was living in Canada and was out one night having a smoke, cos nobody in Canada smokes! A large bear strolled along the road about 10 feet away from me and I look at him/her, he/she looks at me ... I carry on smoking he/she carries on walking...

Only when I go back in the house and I realise that there was a bear on the road very near me does the fear hit me... didn't go outside for ages after. I would make my friend drive right to the door to pick me up.

I read this and lol'd hard really.

Now I really want to go to Canada!

In fairness though I'd say it was funny. Could be where Muichael Jackson got the idea to do it to his child!

No, wasn't funny, espeacially when he pretended to drop me,

Bear in mind, 5 years old, upside down, looking down over water and an english prick going "whoah" "whoah" moving me closing to the liffey.

Really, really don't like people touching my shins (seriously), and I have a very irrational fear of breaking them or having them hit by some sort of blunt object. The idea of it makes my skin crawl, and I can't be in situations where there is a slight possibility of that happening (my shins being hit). I don't like people even touching my shins, really freaks me out.

    I also don't like heights.

I afraid that a moth will burrow its way into my ear while I'm asleep, thrash around the place waking me up, and necessitate a 4am visit to the hospital to have the fcuker removed (still alive and struggling) .... again :(

I'm absolutely irrationally terrified of dogs......no matter how big or small they may be!!

I totally avoid going anywhere near parks or fields were anyone might happen to be walking their dog...I've occasionally crossed to the other side of a road rather than walk to close to one of them!!

Even thinking about them now has me in a sweat ha ha ha!!

Are you a black person? They must have some myths or legends about killer dogs i Africa or something, because 90% of them (specially woman and kids) just panic when they see dogs -they go around miles away or just stop and don't move. :pac: Anybody knows why?

Cancer. You can be brave about many things, but cancer takes all that away from you.

It's a horrible, painful way to go.

I try not to think about it.

Going blind. The thought of it is just terrible. Imagine not being able to see anyone's face again or read a book without brail.

I wear contact lenses but when I do wear my glasses I have a fear on sunny days of catching the sun at a certain angle and blinding myself with the rays of the sun. Irrational but yeah.

Also have a fear of my house being burgled into. I would just feel so violated :(

death, I think that's quite a normal real fear for someone who is not religious. If I think about it at all I have a bit of a freak-out, first time it started happening was after my grandad had died when I was about 7, my mother had to try calm me down, now I just block it out, If I let myself think about it for a minute I get the panic. I've no irrational fears though.

I recently discovered I've developed a fear of heights even some that appear on TV, I don't know why, as I worked in consruction most of my working life and never had a this fear.

I'm afraid of being locked in a small space. I think I'd crack up.

Got that feeling on a plane to Barcelona one time and wasn't the better of it for a few days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,910 ✭✭✭OneArt

Swans. They freak the f*ck out of me. I don't mind thinking about them or pictures but if I'm by a lake or I see swans in the distance I just started panicking. It also doesn't help that they can apparently break your arm with their necks.

    F*cking monsters.

Fire (when I was a child two of my cousins died in a house fire and a third was left badly burned), cancer (had a scare 3 years ago when I found a lump in my breast but it turned out just to be a cyst thank god) and being raped.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,879 ✭✭✭Kya1976

I've always been terrified of badgers, plus I suffer from vertigo.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,041 ✭✭✭cocoshovel

Spiders bigger than a €1 coin and other insects/bugs that are large. Especially Wasps, f**king scumbags of the animal kingdom.

Extremely deep water that I cant see the bottom of, e.g Large rivers (River Suir in Waterford city terrifies me) & far out into the ocean. I will swim at the beach and go on boats or snorkling no bother but once I'm in the water where I cant see the bottom, Ill have a panic attack.

Submerged objects in water I can't see the bottom of. Things like Buoys and the big dirty long chain that goes down for hundreds of feet into the pitch blackness just makes my stomach churn, even the thought of touching the top on the surface makes me feel uncomfortable. Other submerged items too, any large objects in deep murky water really.

Hate moths, Have to kill the bastards they always seem to go for my mouth or eyes, even in a room full of people its always me, Making me shatter my cool outer exterior with a girl like scream

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,110 ✭✭✭Aodan83

Couldn't think of anything until I saw a few people mention Cnacer, and to be honest that s probably the one thing I'm truly scared of. It just seems like there is absolutely nothing you can do about it other than hope you never get it.

I'm afraid of floating staircases. Or almost any of the staircases in this in fact.

    http://www.findaproperty.com/displaystory.aspx?edid=00&salerent=0&storyid=20649

    *puke puke puke puke puke*

Also spiders, and cancer. And small spaces. And I hate strange people standing too close to me.

Atheists could feel uneasy at the findings but do your own searching.I've forgotten addresses of sites but It's genuine.

Just feels like a lottery whether you get it or not considering the amount of "healthy-living" people I've known who've succumbed to it.

you could say the same about most diseases tbh

Me too! My Mum has had a few things wrong with her eyes-cataracts and now glaucoma and has had eye surgery a few times and not a bother on her. I dunno how she does it. I'd have to be knocked out before a doctor came anywhere near my eyes, so yeah my fear is something going wrong with my eyes.

Also spiders. The big hairy bastards. Number 1 reason I could never move to Australia. Dinner Plate spiders
There's a type of spider in the U.S. (forget what it's called but they're quite big) that rather than feel threatened and run for cover if a human comes near them will instead rear up on their hind legs and attack?

    F*cking hate spiders
