Are the guys working in Tuam just having a laugh? The N17 in between town and country and the traffic lights heading towards Galway is brutal I've never come across new road as bad as it. The other side of the traffic lights is bad in it's own unique way but if a truck comes towards them traffic lights from the hill at speed it could have trouble stopping the roads so uneven.

It is a temporary surface, they are digging the main N17 on Saturdays and Sundays from 8pm to 8am to avoid any traffic disruption, covering it from Mon to Fri and digging again at weekends.

I think this is a much better solution than having it dug up during the week.

It's dangerous and damaging to cars, they should not be allowed to walk away from a mess like that.

They left the Ballygaddy Road in an awful state; the top of Tullinadaly Hill looks as if it has been continuously bombed; the Galway Road between the Weir Road traffic lights and Lidl is genuinely dangerous and even the surface of the road prior to that is not up to scratch. A temporary surface can be smooth and safe for vehicles but Coffey's don't give a sh*te for the people of Tuam.

Try cycling on a road bike from the Weir Road Traffic lights out past Lidl... and you'll know ALL about how bad the road surface is. Seriously seriously bad. Road has collapsed at the edge in parts - very dangerous for cyclists - especially whilst trying to keep average speeds up ;)

If this was a private contract someone would be getting sued, I don't know why the government have to be such push overs, I wouldn't pay for work like that.

The junction at the Weir Road Traffic lights itself is a disgrace - most likely because it was dug up so many times. In fact, it's probably due to be dug up again

Security crackdown to follow escape bids from Tuam Gulag
    By TONY GALVIN

GENERALS of the Coffeys-Co Council alliance are to hold an investigation into how some people managed to escape from the Tuam Gulag over the weekend when the town was supposed to be completely sealed off.

The Camp Commandant in charge of security has been court martialled and was due to be shot at dawn on Monday, but the firing squad couldn’t find their way around the roadworks and retreated in frustration.

    :D
