    Hi all,

I have the above condition and I'm just wondering would I be entitled to a medical card. My meds every single month cost the €120 and I struggle to find it. Is there any financial help entitlements for this condition?
    Thanks

You will be means tested but a letter from your gp will help sway matters in your favour. If you are turned down you may get a gp card. Remember if you are working you can claim medical expenses back at the lower tax rate.

i have RA about three years now and have been denied a medical card. I was told that I am not entitled to it because there are so many people in the county with it that it does not fall under the category 'long term illness' Crazy isnt it!!

That is absolutely crazy. I spent about two months getting letters to and fro from my online application for the medical card, to be told at the end of it all that online applications are only assessed financially and not medically. So I sent everything off again about three weeks ago and haven't heard anything back. I'm pretty sure I won't get it either, but you don't get anywhere unless you at least try.
