Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hard without some specifics ( ie likes/dislikes etc )

However what about Beaulieu Motor museum , great place to visit

Porstmouth is just down the road , HMS Victory etc

    Bournmouth has a great beach.

Thanks for that, other half and I are thinking of taking 3/4 days away. I dont want to go on a 'city break', If the museum is well worth a trip, (will we spend the day there?), then I will have to sell the general area to her if we are there for a few days. Beaches, we probally will not get the weather in October...Other museums, nice villages etc

    Ohh right

Well the general area is lovely , very ' English ', lots of picturesque villages with country pubs etc.

If you like cars at all Beaulieu is a day trip for sure.

I say you would need to rent a car TBH.

Bournmouth is a nice enough town , but like a lot of that coast ( IMO ) a little too full of retired people .

The Historic dockyard in Portsmouth is worth a visit as David said. HMS victory is brilliant. You also have the D-Day museum and Southsea castle along the front as well. There is also Spinnaker Tower if you can handle heights. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Portsmouth, there are a couple of B&Bs that look nice around Spice Island. There are two pubs in that area, the Spice Island Inn and the Sallyport Inn where you can watch everything coming in and out of the harbour and its not too hard to imagine drunken seamen being press ganged into the navy.

In the New Forest you have the motor museum as well as lots of picturesque villages such as Fordingbridge.

West of the new forest is nice as well and the Tank Museum and Monkey World are worth a visit as is the castle at Corfe and Lulworth.

If you want somewhere special to stay, check out the Master Builder in Bucklers Hard, very quirky but luxurious hotel.
