    Just wondering if there is anywhere in Ireland that you could pick up used server cases, fans etc. for low prices?

    Well I'm not really sure - maybe something that is 6 or 7 foot. It won't be full anyway - needs to house a router, switch, KVM with space before and needs a rack installed console - I'm 6 foot so I need the console to be at a comfortable height.

    A default Rack size is 42 U or Inches with a half rack being, well, half that or 21 Inchs. If you want to have a rack installed console then you will need a full rack.

    Look for any company which is moving / relocating offices, a lot won't take Comms racks with them.

    1u = 1.75 inches so a 42u Rack is 73.5 inches of space internally and is usually around 6 inches more in height externally.

    square racks are for comms gear,

    you would need longer racks for servers
