Is cork airport open during the night? i'm looking at booking a flight but it leaves cork at 6am, i live 40 miles from the city so was thinking of going up there around 10 or 11 the night before and just panning off somewhere until the flight the next morning,

A taxi would cost a fortune and don't think any of the family would be willing to get up that hour of the morning to give me a lift,

So just asking if any of ye have ever stayed there overnight and was there any hassles doing this.

    Cheers.

I think it is, but do not think anything is open. There is a flight to Poland at some silly time like 2.30am, and then the early flights start from about 6. Doubt it closes for these 2/3 hours.

    According to this; http://www.irishairportguide.com/ork/

    "WIFI at Cork Airport

WIFI at Cork Airport is available in Arrivals and Departure areas. The service is provided BT Openzone Credit can be purchased on line by Credit card. One-hour vouchers can be bought for just €10 or 1-day vouchers at €15. A full list of voucher and subscription prices is available on the website www.btopenzone.ie "

I've never used wifi there so I don't fully know.

There are internet stations by Starbucks/Arrivals but they're quite expensive, I spent a small fortune on it last time!

I think Subway closes for 1 hour at a random time (like 2am - 3am or similar).

You need to get some American troops in there. Shannon is the only airport I have been in with free wifi. And I'm fairly sure that's because of all the troops going through it.

For overall information about Cork Airport and sleeping there:
    http://www.sleepinginairports.net/europe/cork.htm#.TlPUKl0qKH0

For reviews on Cork Airport for sleeping there:
    http://www.sleepinginairports.net/list.asp?region=1&country=Ireland&city=Cork&terminal=Chorcai
Be aware though, that some/most (seemingly all the old negative reviews) would be of the old terminal.

The most recent (and best!) review of Sleeping there is from a few months back (http://www.sleepinginairports.net/list.asp?thef=list&s=&act=1&did=7413&region=1&country=Ireland&city=Cork&terminal=Chorcai&pagen=1).

Info it gives, which would be useful is:
"Airport security will let you sleep for overnight but they will be asking if you about your next destination/ time of flight. I almost had no problems whatsover... free wifi on iphone makes the night easier for me. You cant sleep till 2PM in the night as its little bit of noisy but later on its quite enough. 5.30 am ppl are coming to catch there flights so u can enjoy 5 hours sleep only.

Subway is open 24 hours with food/drinks. Toilets are clean and its next to subway. Information centre close at 12:00 pm in the night and open at 6.00 am."
    and
    Other Stuff I noticed
    • SEATING: Comfortable Cushioned Seating
    • AMENITIES: Bookstores, Internet Cafes, Fast Food, Sit down style restaurants, Bars, Kids Play areas, WIFI
    • SMOKING: Smoking is permitted in designated areas
    • ANNOUNCEMENTS/NOISE: Frequent announcements, General noise made it difficult to sleep
    • TEMPERATURES: Just right
    • CLEANLINESS: Cleaning staff were respectful of my desire to rest

If you can't get a family member to drop you there close to the check in time, I reckon driving and parking is the best option. There are some cheap parking options and you can find all of the on http://www.parksmart.ie/airport/cork/parking/cork-airport-parking.html

Many in Europe don't. In fact, wifi access is very expensive at airports. Many allow you to use your own dongle, though.
