Make sure you activate it every couple of months to keep the sim active.

How much does a GSM module cost for HKC home alarm. We have a "normal" module which texts us when the alarm goes off but it is connected to the landline and it results in a bad buzz whenever we use the landline. In addition WiMax unwilling to install broadband over such a module as they claim it will not text. Could the buzz in the landline be due to something else (i.e. the installer never fitted a filter etc)

    GSM will cost around €320.
If you disconnect the other unit does the buzzing stop?

Thanks. Unfortunately, not sure how to discontinue. If done via access keypad, would that make any difference? Not that I know how to do that either but I could figure oout

Can you unplug the phoneline from the unit.
I would be wanting to confirm this is the problem before changing the unit.

The phoneline (cable) coming into the house is at the level where the HKC main unit on the wall is installed so it is now hidden in the box. I am afraid that if I try to open the unit, it will trigger the alarm.
Will have to get someone who knows more. Original installation done by a friend who was very good at alarms (worked as an alarm installer) but cannot reach him.

We've tried a few different cordless phones (Panasonic and Siemens, all higher price band) and all have the same buzz which we can hear but the person on te other side does not hear the buzz.

Opening the box will activate the alarm, but your code will silence it.
This could be an issue with your line. Have you any other phone points around the house? A process of elimination will tell you whats the cause.
Connect your house phone directly to the line coming into the house & disconnect everything else . If the line is still noisey then its an external problem. If the line is good then add on from there.

Another thing to try is connect the cable in the dialer A to C and B to D in the control panel. This bypasses the dialer altogether. the line into A B is meant to be the main line so connect the phone to this.

Please do. It should be easy to isolate down.

If you still have the bad buzz on the line when connected to the main line then it is a problem with the line coming into your home. To fix this you will have to get Eircom out.
