i am new to gardening and have been trying to figure out where to buy good quality bulbs in dublin. I have been looking online but i'm not sure which websites i can trust. I want to buy quite a lot so it is important to get a good price. My local garden centre is quite small and very expensive. There used to be a lot of garden centres in the area but they were replaced with houses....so basically i have no idea where to look! any ideas?

    thanks:)

I was in superquinn monday and they are currently selling spring flowering bulbs @ 3 for €5 mind you I had only the price of a carton of milk on me so I didn't pick any up but they have the likes of crocus, daffodils, tulips, snowdrops, mini daffodils or narcissi I think they were called..

I'm in limerick but I'm sure they're selling them in all of their stores.. B&Q, Atlantic homecare/Woodies, Homebase and all them kind of stores should have them in as well and any small business garden & hardware shops should be due to get them in soon too even the like of Lidl & Aldi should be getting them in... I'd say by september you should definately be seeing them in the shops.
I'm a newbie to the gardening craic myself so i'm on the look out for all these too.. hope this helps :)
    Regards
    Cora

Just noticed in this week's lidl offers that they're selling bulbs this week - 5kg of daffodils for €7.99 http://www.lidl.ie/cps/rde/xchg/lidl_ri_ie/hs.xsl/4182_13080.htm; 5kg tulips (about 70 bulbs) for €9.99 http://www.lidl.ie/cps/rde/xchg/lidl_ri_ie/hs.xsl/4182_13081.htm and other assorted tulip mixes etc as well http://www.lidl.ie/cps/rde/xchg/lidl_ri_ie/hs.xsl/13087.htm

This is the second time I've posted offers in homebase recently... not because I'm associated with them in any shape or form, but because they are on my way home from work and I keep straying in there for some reason!!!

In any case, 10kg of daffodils are on sale for I believe 12 euro... could've been 12.99. Very good price I would've thought. Personally I'm planning a good bulb shop on http://www.mrmiddleton.com. Good selection and some good bulk buys available for Crocus and Grape Hyacinth that I'm interested in.
