Access mail from Exchange server via mobile phones

Hopefully somebody here can give me some advice on this ? We have a Windows 2003 SBS server in our office which runs our exchabge server too , serving about 15 users. In the past few months , the projects being worked on demand that most of the users spend 2/3 days a week off site , so access to email is becoming a big issue.

I'm looking to configure our Exchange server so that we can get access to email via Iphoens / balckberry or whatever similar device somebody has (mix and match of phones to be honest at the moment) . I've done some research but any of the stuff I've found would seem to suggest that it is specifically for windows mobile enabeled devices.

Given that we also use iphones , could somebody maybe point me in the right direction ?? I want to do this once so that its future proofed to a certain degree - I'd also like to get Outlook Webmail working while I'm at it as I believe the set-up is simialar ??

Go get yourself a Signed Cert and setup Webmail.

Then it's just a case of pointing the mobile client to the Webmail URI and most of them will auto-configure once supplied with User/Pass.

cool, I'm actually most of the way there already so. Looks like I was over complicating it.

Only issue I have now is with certificate and making sure I get that right - need to get my head around it.

You want to configure RPC over HTTPS

Get your cert from http://certificatesforexchange.com/

Might be a good idea to review the current password policies in place too.
Also, disable OWA access for anyone who does not need it ( can be done through AD )

Yes RPC over HTTPS is the way to go, You can do a self signed cert if you want.
I have it working on exchange 2003 to nokia's, iphones and win's phones with no issues.

I think i am correct in saying it wont work on the blackberry units - without enterprise manager or an exchange account fowarding to a POP on the BBerry.

not quite....
For full mailbox sync including Calendar, contacts etc... you do needs some sort of BES server (express version is free).

If its just emails you're after once you have Outlook web access setup follow this guide

emails will be pushed to the BB device... Providing RIM sort out the BIS service at the moment!! ;-)
