Assault case London

    My cousin is involved in an assault case in london at the moment. he got into a fight after the pub bout 5am and broke a guys nose and jaw.He got arrested and accepted all responsibility to the police now awaiting trial on monday..anyone with any legal knowledge be able to tell me what kinda fine/compensation/sentence hes lookin at....so worried about him prob need to prepare for the worst

    Do you know what he is charged with? If he broke the guys nose it may be aggravated assault causing bodily harm.

    Is he being trailed summarily or a proper trial. I presume summarily since there is a quick turn around. If its a summary trial (no jury) max imprisonment is something like 6 months.

    Then there is a reduction for good behaviour in prison and another reduction for pleading guilty.

    Magistrates or Crown Court?

    Any previous convictions, especially involving violence to the person i.e. assault, GBH etc.?

    Does he have a solicitor?

    Even if he is pleading guilty, he better have a solicitor to put up some mitigating plea or else he will be going down. His only consolation might be that the jails are so crowded after the riots that he'll probably get out on parole relatively quickly.
