Also got a foreman grill, but I'm now realising that everyone in the apartment will be using it and it's going to get pretty gross. But I literally don't know how to cook anything that can't be grilled :O

You could always lock it up in your cupboard :P After a few weeks I'd imagine people will stop being polite and just leave your stuff in the sink.

There's plenty doing science in halls and given the demographic, gamers and film watchers probably make up 70% of the population there.:D

My Mum said that she wanted to stay in my room whenever she goes to Dublin so that she saves Hotel costs. She wants to sleep on an inflatable mattress with a sleeping bag on the floor. Is this normal? I would be very embarassed if she actually does that.

I told her that and she said ok, but was kind of pissed off because she partly paid for it. Was I being a prick or am I right to say no? After all, there is a reason why the room is called a "single" room.

@ thysol Being honest...thats not cool.the truth is college is a place where us repressed teenagers finally get the freedom we deserve and the thought of any1s parent is or could be seen as a threat to that freedom.unless ur mam is really cool(willing to join in in the partying) or very hot(personal preferences) then im afraid shes going to have to deal with not staying the night in your room.of course if theres no1 in the house e.g if its a weekend then its grand!!

My older sister is doing the same thing we're going to see rhcp in nov n rather than pay 4 a hotel i said she culd kip in mine. She's only a few yrs older than me thou..i'd personally b embarrassed if my mam asked could she...but it's a tricky situation wen they r paying n u dont want to insult them either! She should understand tht u need your space tho and tht u r living in student accom so it wuld b weird to have her staying!! I don't think ur bring a prick 4 saying no every1 wuld do the same!!

Wowza! i am liking the sounds of this weekend!! :D

About the arrival times?... it says,
8am to 5pm Arrival as per the schedule provided by the Accommodation Office

Does that mean theres some sort of list there saying when we all should arrive or is that just it, we can arrive at anytime between 8 and 5?...

The two years I stayed there, they had "guidelines" for times to arrive depending on where you were coming from. They'd divide it up into counties and sort it by distance from Dublin, so the closer you were the earlier they'd suggest you arrive. It isn't exactly enforced or anything though.

question: to the people who have found other in their own apartment, are all your flatmates the same gender as you? Was the question about being comfortable in mixed gender apartment all bull****?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 52 ✭✭OrlaB12693

Yea... well my appartments gonna be lady-filled anyways!...

i think the only mixed ones will be if someone had specified someone of the opposite sex they wanted to share with that they already knew, and then the rest of that'd be a mixed appartment?... if ya get my drift? (:

I think they might be pissed off if someone rings them just to find out who their flatmates will be. I wouldn't do it, just wait another week and 2 days.:)

You find out when you move in. They won't tell you.
And the flats are all same sex(says on the website) with the very odd exception. That question deals more with on campus accommodation rather than Trinity hall, (both use the same application form)

I've heard that Cunningham House is the only house with wifi- just wondering how people in the modern accommodation can connect to the internet? I'm sure I'll find out next Friday anyway but I'm just curious.

Calvin harris is seperate to halls, but if you do halls and the college weekend it's 10 nights!

if your address there is 88.02.02, then your address in halls will be
    88.02.02 Trinity Hall
    Dartry Road,
    Dublin 6
And post redirected? Honestly, it's easier to get it from home once a week/month

Modern accommodation has an ethernet port in the bedroom. Cunningham has wifi.
