Does anyone know if you can pay for a student ticket with just an age card or a school/college card on Irish rail or does it have to be the travel card? i am applying for one in September but will be going before then and just wanted to know if i would be able to instead of paying for the Adult ticket.

To avail of student travel discounts you need a valid Student Travelcard. However, Irish Rail will accept your College Acceptance Letter as a form of student ID when your travelling to college for registration, so do not forget to bring your letter to the booking office. This is only valid for one return ticket only. To continue getting great student value fares you will need a valid Student Travelcard.
