Great Western Greenway

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has cycled the Great Western Greenway? Looking into doing it in August and exploring the logistics of it.

Ideally would like to start from Achill and cycle to Westport - will probably only have one car so transport will be an issue in one direction given it's a linear route. The plan would be to bring our own bikes - do the Achill->Westport cycle and stay the night in Westport.

Anyone know if there are any feeder services from that would either take us (with bikes) from Westport to Achill (we'd leave the car at the hotel in Westport) or us (without bikes) back out to Achill the following morning (if we ditch the car at Achill for the night).

Looks like a great route and I believe there are plans to extend it into Achill itself.

Excellent service. They will drop you off in Achill for you to cycle back to Westport. Highly enjoyable & healthy way to spend a day.

I did it with my sister last summer. we cycled from westport to achill. most people stayed one night and cycled back but we hung round the island for a few days.

there are plenty of b&bs there so i would actually suggest cycling both ways and leaving the car in westport.

can't recommend it enough.
