Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sorry if this has been done before. Can anyone suggest a good wheel for a heavy rider.I have roughly 65km commute daily some over bad rural roads and have just cracked my askium rear wheel.Should I think about a hand built wheel or just keep replacing the askiums every 9 months or so?
Trying to loose the weight but slow process and i like to ride fairly fast so commute is like training session.
    Thanks in advance for suggestions.

I am heavy and have used Fulcrum 5's fro four years. Like them a lot - they are a better ride for me on sh1te roads than my Mavic Ksyrium SL's, or Askiums.
I need to get a new set of wheels, and I will prob get Fulc 5's (or 3s).

I am also heavy. Presently using handbuilt Mavic Open Pro rims on Ultegra hubs with 36 spokes. Got them online from either Ribble or Parker International (can't remember which). I also have a set with 32 spokes which I got in Cyclelogical some years ago. Very pleased with both sets.

    Thanks guys
The open pro 36H might be way to go, and closer to my budget than the fulcrum 3.

Dt swiss RR465 if you want 32/36 or RR585 if you want 24/28, its a heavier rim but is rated for a 130kg rider weight limit(the 465 for 110kg) and you can use a lower spoke count. Kinlin xr270 is another option. Open pro is decent but dt swiss apparently has better quality control/finishing

Get the Aksiums replaced under warranty. It sounds like bad luck. Handbuilts are not necessarily stronger, indeed an Open Pro is the only rim I have ever had crack.
