Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This is taking place from the 20th to the 31st of October 2011 and I'm the PR & Marketing Manager for it this year (pro-bono work).

As part of this year's festival there's going to be a mobile cinema which will be showing some superb documentaries including Senna, Inside Job, Congo: An Irish Affair and more (8 in all).

There's no cinema in Waterford showing documentaries so this will be a great chance for waterford folk to see Senna in particular.

Also, kicking off this year's festival will be Billy Bragg in the Forum.

The reason I'm opening a thread is that this year there is going to be a lot of events that will make national news and I think it's going to be useful to have a thread of its own.

    Support the local arts etc!

Nice one! Waterford seems to be getting its fair share of festivals this year. The more the merrier. Looking forward to it. Very interested in seeing Senna, heard nothing but good reports about it. Best of luck.

I'll add events to this as we go along.

This year's festival also includes a Trad Festival which will take place over a weekend at a number of bars in the city.

There really is a heap of events happening this year and the hope is that although it will remain a "true" arts festival...there will be a lot there for the mainstream audience as well.

I love the idea of a trad festival. The dates work out really well with the bank holiday and all.

Will of course. Goes without saying that if anyone has any connections in the hospitality industry any help would be much appreciated...loads and loads of artists needing to be fed and sheltered!

Best of luck to all the folks involved in the Imagine festival, must be a tough old time to look for sponsorship etc.

  • Registered Users Posts: 102 ✭✭Manic087

Sounds good. Like to see Senna. Don't suppose any chance of the new Pearl Jam doc being shown as well cos it's not being shown in Waterford currently!!

As others have said...best of luck and keep us up to date.

Thanks to Imagine for giving me the opportunity to read from my debut novel, The Pink Cage. You'll see me wearing a ski jacket and high vis vest in the study hall of De La Salle on Saturday week (29th) at 12 o'clock.

The Festival kicks off with Billy Bragg live at the Forum tonight.

Some tickets still available...if you're free...I'd highly recommend it!

Bragg was very good last night, good night. Singer on before him called Kevin Power was absolutely excellent. Dont know much about him, if he is a local lad or what, some voice.

I wasn't there but have heard Kevin a few times. Hugely tallented musician and a local lad.

Full credit to the organisers of this Festival, attended several events and all were of the highest quality. There was a really broad cross section on offer this year and hopefully Imagine will continue to grow in prominence.
