Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Last year I bought a new Lapeirre Audacia 200 ,spent a few quid as it is my first bike. Anyway! last week went for a spin and on my return the derailluar hanger snapped off:mad: I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of this happening? Its hardly wear and tear is it?

Did your chain get caught in the rear mech? If you need a replacement you might find one at http://derailleurhanger.com/.

    Weird!
Same thing happened to me today on the canyon.
Chain snapped and wrapped itself around the cassette.
Gear cable also snapped and rear derailleur sheared right off.
I was initially 'distressed' as I thought my frame might be a write off but it seems I just need a new derailleur hanger (and chain)
Are derailleur hangers universal or manufacturer specific?

They are make and frame specific.

Should be under warranty I hope. But if not how do I know I am ordering the right one is there a part number some where? also should I replaced the chain?

As it is at present, you'll have to get it from Canyon. The shipping will be pretty steep.

By the look of it. If you find one from the site which I've linked which appears to be an exact match then it'll probably do the job.

I wouldn't think hangers would be under warranty as they are a consumable part (i.e. a part designed to fail in case of accidents etc) but it would be worth talking to the shop.

Just ordered one from canyon, 16 quid for the hanger plus 10 quid shipping.
