The synopsis that Netflix released states:
"Season four of Longmire picks up moments after season three's exciting finale.
Walt Longmire (series star Robert Taylor), having found out who was behind the murder of his wife, succumbs to his darker impulses and takes off in pursuit of the killer with murder on his mind. Meanwhile, Branch Connally (Bailey Chase), the deputy who Walt fired for erratic, violent behavior, believes he has already figured out who the real culprit is. But during his confrontation with this suspected killer, a gun goes off. Now the audience will finally learn what happened, and whether Walt can be stopped before he makes a fatal choice."

    Really, really great trailer.

Is it possible to stream 4g from a phone to a TV or let my ps3 tether to my 4g phone? No Internet and would hate to miss out on this when it comes.

Just to remind everyone Longmire won't be on the Irish/UK Netflix it will only be on Netflix US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

TCM still have the rights to air it on tv over here.

Oh dear , however will I watch it now??? Dear deary me.

Saw Katie Sackoff on a podcast talking about the new season. Said Netflix didn't demand any changes in the programmes style but the producers want to keep the current viewership while reaching out to newer demographics.

She also said that Netflix saw this as more than one season and hope to expand their picking up of cancelled TV shows. Asked what show she would love to see them pick up she had one word "firefly" lol

Can't stop watching that teaser trailer.

    Beautifully put together.

Cannot wait for this to return and am planning a re-watch of the first three series before then, for my money episode 7 of series 3 was amongst the most gripping and adult episodes of TV that I have ever seen. The writers of Longmire deserve a lot of respect, they have repeatedly spent episode after episode building up a major plot arc only to then let it be pushed aside for something far more interesting, it's a credit to them that they take such risks and it really has paid off time and again. I'm currently re-watching Justified and it really does work as a great prequel to Longmire, you can easily imagine Raylan evolving into Walt.

    Fantastic opening episode.

Ten 58 to 63 minute episodes in this season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,912 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Episode 3 is amazing the ending scene/shot was straight out of a John Ford movie.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,912 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

That was a really great season.

What a cliffhanger to end on.

The downside now is the year long wait till season 5.

I watched the first 5 minutes of episode one and stopped. I need to rewatch the last episode of season 3 to jog my memory. Badly needed a "Previously" segment.

I've never seen this. I thought it was on Netflix a while ago (last year).

Initially thought they tied up season 3 cliff hanger a little quick but they did a great job of ending such a long arc and moving on with the show still feeling fresh.

Shows like this are why Netflix will do well ,It will bring a whole different demographic to their service.

I think the show has improved since it's move to Netflix. I think the extra length benefits the show and, I don't know why, but I found it way more watchable this season. I think it was the most enjoyable season for me so far. I found I really got to get into it. I've a feeling it's a binge watch kind of show rather than something that lends itself readily to weekly consumption. Now I want to go back and binge on the earlier seasons really. It's a great thing Netflix picked up on this show. It would have been too great a loss to lose it.

    Really good.

    Finished ep 6.

    Dont want it to end.

The music montages and cinematography in this are amazing.

Best season so far I think.

Finished it over the weekend. What a cliffhanger. That really could be ANYONE at the end.

I have a theory, though. It could be
Geno Segers character (shown almost out of character at the start in a shirt and tie). You don't get someone like that for a tiny bit-part. Anyone who has seen Banshee knows what a badass he is. The kind of guy who could kick a door off the hinges too.

    I'm guessing a relative of
    Hector
    ?

Hopefully we don't have a whole year to wait to find out.

    Finished now.

Sad it's over and hopefully it's renewed again.

It was a very strong series. Maybe slightly weaker in the second half than first but very good.

Odd cliffhanger or at least the way it's delivered.

Really have to find the time to give this a watch. Somewhat apprehensive about doing so as I just like it so much, it's the strongest show around and the writing is a step above the likes of Game of Thrones. The manner in which the writers spend series building up a character or plot arc only to go in a completely unexpected direction is masterful.

    Renewed for season 5.

Finally got through a re-watch of series three and started series four, only one episode and already been blown away by the quality on display, the move to Netflix has been a real God send for the show and the longer episode run time allows the show a little more room to breath. It's a shame that the show never seems to get the love it deserves, it's the most adult show on at the minute and delves into some dark places. I genuinely think that the TV landscape would be a much poorer place if we were to lose the show as it's perhaps the only crime show airing atm in which cynicism is absent and all the better for it.

Strong rumours online that this is the last one! Can't wait anyway.

So much talk of it being the last series and it would be a shame if that were the case as there's nothing really on that comes close to matching it. People go on and on about how adult something like Game of Thrones is but working my way through it at the minute and honestly I find that it doesn't hold a candle to Longmire. Sure, it's great TV but it lacks the heart of Longmire. I rarely get excited for TV these days but honestly, I'd have no problem taking a couple of days off work so as to watch series 5.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,255 ✭✭✭tommy2bad

Yeah it would be a shame for it to end. As you say there's no real reason it can't run for several more seasons. While their is an overall story arch, it's not really what makes this work.
Then again better it end with 5 strong seasons than keep going until it gets tired and worn out.

Does it make sense for Netflix to revive the show only to kill it off after 2 seasons? I'd have imagined they'd try to get at least 3-4 seasons more out of it to make the revival worthwhile!

They won't be committing to anything if the figures don't make sense in fairness!

5 seasons would be a good run.

Re-watching series 4 in preparation for Friday and the show remains exceptional viewing. Episode 6 in particular is one of the most powerful pieces of television in quite some time and among the most shocking and adult 60 minutes around. The way it deals with rape is a masterclass in understatement, the writers understand that we do not need to see the act itself but rather that the aftereffects can be even more shocking. No other show brings such a humane touch when exploring how such an act affects the victim as well as looking at the shocking realities of rape on reservations. It's genuinely unsettling that in this day in age that Indian women are 2.5 time more likely to be raped than non Indian women.
